The irony is that Saleh wasn’t a bad coach (Saleh+MLF+Darnold would have probably gotten into the playoffs), but Douglas was a terrible GM and because Woody is an idiot, he fired Saleh first. Meanwhile, Glenn actually looks like a bad coach, and the jury’s still out of Mougey, but watch Woody fire Mougey in a year from now and keep Glenn.

I agree. These are bold moves. Can't say 100% they will work out until I see the drafts but on paper, I don't hate it. I am tired of this delusional thinking that the Jets are just 1-2 players away. The whole team sucks top to bottom and there is definitely a loser mentality that has settled in among some of the veterans.

Glenn definitely gets another year. Jets are not winning anything this year or next so, I don't have a huge problem giving him another chance.

Irregardless is a double negative. I think what you meant was "Regardless"

Not everyone who has a promising start continues on that trajectory. Still it is better to get off to a good start than not, i think we can agree there. I think that Adams trade really made JD look great early. But there were some warning signs too. OL was terrible since the very 1st year.- remember how JD brought up washed up and retired Kalil off the couch to protect Sam. Or how he traded Leonard Williams for just a 3d round pick. Adams trade covered all this up. For Mooge we just had a thread where he was very solid overall even before these recent moves. Now you add these moves, he is definitely off to a good start. Of course he needs to keep this up, but so far so good. Now, only if AG could be a good coach, the we would be in good shape.

I have to agree with the folks on Unsportsmanlike this morning. Aaron Glenn just got handed the keys to the kingdom period end of story. Same goes for Moug.. QW wanted out ever since Glenn fired Rodgers and the Jets did him a solid by moving him to the team he wanted to play for. Sauce hasn't been the same since he got paid so they got lucky with a helluva offer from the Colts and moved on it. MC II frankly was a waste and moving on from him made our secondary better. Helped that Cisco is out too.

This is all upside. Now all that remains is the hope that Glenn's learning curve flattens out and his in-game decision making improves enough to show progress. Shame it had to come to this but at least it appears, for now, that the team has stopped the bleeding.

Sadly, the trade deadline and the NFL draft are on different days.

. Has the bleeding truly stopped? More like the team has amputated a couple limbs and cauterized the stumps.

Q wanted out because he was told this wasn't a rebuild after they let ARod go and because of how bad the coaching is that's what it ended up being. So in turn Glenn caused Q to want to leave, convenient.
Sauce is still a top 3 corner in this league, the Colts (better run organization than ours) would not have given up what the did.
MCII was one of my favorite players the last couple of years but for some reason his play fell off this year (so did everyone else's) wonder what could be different this year.
Glenn doesn't have a learning curve, it's just a straight drop down, the fact that he made bad in game decisions, admitted them and came back the next week and did the exact same thing just shows me that he is clueless.
The 2 minute drills, the post game pressers, the fact that the entire team regressed and looks like they are playing with no effort. The whole "I am not telling who the QB thing is embarrassing, teams are laughing at us because nobody is scared of either QB there is no competive advantage to withholding the info. He just looks lost, still brazen and confident but the product he puts on the field is laughable. He just doesn't seem very bright honestly, just hides it behind a mask of bravado.

This thinking is part of the problem, we give this team too much slack. So many teams have turned things around in a year but for some reason there are still fans that say "well we aren't winning for a few years so it's ok", it's not OK, this team has sucked for 15 years.
The thought process should have been a promising season this year (it's been anything but), not a lot of wins but at least look competitive.
Next year we get the QB and compete for a playoff spot then his 3rd year we are actually competing like a real NFL team.
If we suck this year this bad then what do you think the trajectory is? Where is the light at the end of the tunnel? According to your thinking it is 2028 at best.

Please describe for me the scenario where the Jets put a competitive team on the field next year. Even with an incredible draft I don't see that happening.

I really don't feel like looking but there are probably a dozen examples the last few years, Patriots just did it after one and done coach. Bears look way better year one, Jags, Colts I mean the list goes on and on. 3 year rebuilds are antiquated thinking, a couple smart moves and teams can atleast be competitive the first year, not the 3rd. If you are saying well we are the Jets so we are different then that is the defeatest attitude that has us wallowing in this pit of desperation.

Eh, I think that Saleh got screwed here because they tried to rush the timeline with Aaron Rodgers. Darnold is a cautionary tale that just drafting a QB isn’t enough. You need to build the full infrastructure for it to work. And in that sense, the Jets now need to stay focused on building that winning foundation for these draft picks to work. We have a war chest of draft picks and cap room. Hopefully unlike JD that failed miserably in the oline and the weapons department we can build a sustainable foundation that can allow the next QB that we draft the ability to showcase his full abilities

Pats are not on year 1 of their rebuild though. They grabbed Maye at #3 and despite a solid rookie season they were still very bad. Best case scenario, Jets have a great draft and get their QB next year. Even if they do, it will take at least a season before they can compete.

Sanchez rookie season was different. Jets already had a good foundation to build around.

What really matters right now is the leadership clearly understands that we need to build our offense. We have been anemic for over a decade. Metchie and Mitchell are WR versions of Justin Fields, lottery tickets with potential that likely won’t pan out. If they do it would be a huge boon for us, I like the risk/reward with those two.

This brings us to the question- Is Coach Glenn onboard with these moves? He’s a defensive guy and he just lost his two best players. Is this him understanding that we need to sacrifice the D for the betterment of the team, or did Mougey just pull the rug from under him?

Nothing this organization or Glenn will ever be enough for a fan like yourself so, you get to suffer, bitch and moan until Glenn is gone OR, simply follow from a distance. This year was going to be about change from the start. Q is gone, Sauce is gone, MC II is gone, Rodgers is gone. That's the reality so it's up to you if you want to follow the team while it undergoes another rebuild or walk away until they make a move you agree with.

Thanks for laying it out for me lol, it's still my team and I am entitled to an opinion. You are as well and if you don't like my doom and gloom (well justfied) approach then simply put me on ignore. I wouldnt take offense to it, everyone fans in their own way, just stick me on ignore then you won't feel the need to tell me how I should be a fan.

I laid out possible choices. No one said you couldn't have an opinion. I'm also not telling you how to be a fan as I'm not the sole arbiter of Jet fandom. Misery is a Jet fan's birthright. If complaining about the Jets until they finally make a move you agree with makes your day? More power to you. I never said you HAD to do one thing or the other. Choice is still an option...

So, strap in and try not to be too miserable during this latest rebuild. Its gonna be a long one...

It doesn't have to be, that's a terrible view to have. That's the kind of thinking that gives you decades of struggle, we should be able to turn this around in 1 or 2 years and this is year one not year zero. Which teams had 3 or 4 year rebuilds that were successful?
