Raiders fans who witnessed the draft picks Gruden help select from 2018 - 2021 beg to differ.

There's always the walk away option.... Especially if you're not a PSL owner. Masochism is not a good thing.

I don't think it's an either/or proposition. We're stuck with them, yes. That's true. It also doesn't mean that I have to support them. I have seen enough from this year, from just how mismanaged the team is, that they're not going to get to the level they need to be at in order for this franchise to ever be successful. If they do get there, that would be great. I'd be happy to be wrong, but all of the available evidence points in the other direction.

I'm not angry. I'm past the point in my life now where I allow a professional sports team to make me angry.

I decided during the Gase years to watch them as though they were a traveling improv comedy show. It's made watching them both easier to do as well as more fun.

Today was definitely our Superbowl! No hopefully they don't fuck up the picks.

If you're watching the Jets, you still give a shit about the Jets. Weren't you happy when they came back to beat the Bungles? If that answer is yes, you're still supporting the jets. You don't have to love the FO/CS, but the Jets are still your team for better or worse (usually the latter).

I see this as a much needed change in team identity. I liked Quinnen and Sauce but we have to fix the offense or we'll never win anything. These trades give us the ammo to do that.

You literally watched this exact movie with Gase and JD.
All they did was make the whole team worse, then bank all that capital on Zach Wilson without even a backup. Waste of 6 years.

You don’t win with terrible defense. In fact having a good defense takes a ton of pressure off of an inexperienced pro.
This team has no identify. Chasing its own tail at this point.

Now I am afraid that these idiots will take these draft picks and trade them for #1 overall pick (if we don't get one due to our awful record), so we can draft another sure thing franchise QB...

well if nothing else the Jets at least made the trade deadline interesting - not really any other trades to get excited about - this was our Superbowl right here - hope you enjoyed it!

And one thing is for sure, that QB will have zero help, with a talentless team, no defense, and an inexperienced OC creating the game plans.

I don't even know where to start with this.

The Gase teams had HORRIBLE rosters. The roster got a hell of a lot better in large part due to draft picks Douglas acquired. He wasn't a good GM and he botched the Becton/Wilson picks but he had the right idea initially.

Plenty of teams win with bad defenses. Almost no team wins with a bad offense. Our identity has been defensive-based for 15 years. Where has it gotten us? The worst team in football over that time?

    Just absurd takes all around.

Again what on earth are you talking about?

Our OL is young and almost completely set, we have a solid young TE and a good stable of running backs. The only thing we need is WRs, and we acquired a couple of those recently as well. And that's without considering any of the guys our new first round picks will be used to acquire.

To be fair, I’d guess Breece Hall won’t be here next year, and honestly I’m a bit surprised seeing our fire sale that we kept him in the end…I just think he’ll bolt in free agency…I like Allen and Davis OK, but they haven’t proven they can be starters yet, so if we do lose Hall, our RB room doesn’t look as good anymore. Receiver for sure we all know is a HUGE need and while I like having a bunch of young scrappy guys compete, and I liked what I saw from 16 and 18 against the Bengals, I still don’t think we have anything starting quality next to GW…all of our other guys are WR3 at best, and really more like WR4 and WR5 if we’re being honest about it.

Of course it all comes down to that QB.

At this point, knowing our recent history with top 5 QB draft picks, I'd just strengthen everything else and get a free agent veteran QB.

Look at Baker, Darnold, Danny Dimes, Geno Smith, etc. Didn't launch to expectations after drafted but figured it out and became good NFL QBs. These older re-tread QB's only costs you money and not draft capital. I'm on board with this strategy. If you mess up and choose the wrong guy it sets you back a year and not 4. That being said I like Mendoza coming out this year. If he's there take him. If not grab someone else. Quick release and will have had almost 3 full years starting at QB in the NCAA level.

I agree. But then why would you trade arguably the best two players on the team in their prime?

The Jets have plenty of cap space and capital to sign one and draft one. I’d do both. And then you let Metchie, AD, Arian Smith, Johnson, Williams, etc. battle it out for 4/5/6.

We could probably use a guard or center. Tippman seems to be a much better guard than center. Guards need to be low investment positions though unless they’re absolute superstars ala Zach Martin or Quenton Nelson. Those guys are never available in FA and rarely come along in the draft.

But yeah I think you can rebuild the receiver room very quickly and we easily have the best supporting cast we’ve had for a QB since 2009.

I'm surprised, but not disappointed, they didn't trade Quincy. Could have just been a value thing, but I wonder if Sherwood's regression factored into it.

Also happy JJ and Breece were kept. Despite two blockbuster trades of their stars, I wouldn't call it a fire sale either

The situation is odd, was it a fire sale? I feel like they half assed it. If you were going to get rid of players why not the ones that want out or contracts expiring? Just weird, if it's a rebuild then tear it all down, if it isn't then keep your talent.

Fire sale is when you get penny on the dollar. We got a massive haul for each guy. What's crazy is we already have players on the roster who are pretty good who can plug both of these holes. AZ and Briggs will step in, and yes, there will be some drop off, but to be honest I am not sure how big. Defense had 2 good games out of 8, we are bottom 5 even with these guys. Let's see how much worse it will be without them. It is in a way a rebuild, but it does not need to be a long one.
