I remember the Colts fleeced the Jets for multiple picks and Jets drafted Darnold, Colts literally built the team they have today with those picks. Jets returning the favor, with this trade.
I didn't like the trade up at the time either (I wanted to trade DOWN, and take Lamar) but to be fair if JD would kept Sam and parlayed that #2 into anything better than Zach Wilson it wouldn have looked so bad right now....
Problem is good luck finding anyone who wants to play here with that $. By getting away from Jets Sauce going to end up in the HOF
looking at some Colts fan forums and they seem generally unhappy with the price but happy with the player
Until they see the untimely PI flags or watching Sauce blow interceptions. At least they won't have to watch him blitz as that isn't his thing.
Not sure why folks are surprised. Bad teams have to use assets on their roster to get more assets to fill out the roster with overall better talent. It may mean a downgrade at CB (slightly) and substantial upgrades elsewhere. Time will tell. I’m in alignment with a sell off. Edit: Also, lot of folks missed my post surrounding information I got from someone in the building in Florham Park. Sauce habitually was showing up late to team meetings and also would roll into team meetings dressed from the club from the night prior, complete with hooker glitter all over him. Meaning, it was clear he went out and stayed out late and then went to meetings, late and covered in debauchery.
THANK GOODNESS I didn't buy a Sauce gotham city football jersey. He was my first choice but he wasn't having a good year so I decided to go with the safer option Garrett Wilson. I never imagined Sauce would get traded I was thinking more I'll buy a Sauce jersey down the road when he's having a better season. Incredible value for a player that isn't having a good year.
I didn’t like it either, I’m just looking at the two offensive linemen the Colts drafted which are still in the team today, they just lost the other player drafted to FA but he produced for them as well.
The great news is that the Jets never had to pay a dime of that "highest paid corner in history" BS. I suspect Gardner will never be the highest paid corner in the league.
