Of course, Jets win a game their first after 7 losses and they send me my ticket invoice for next year's season tickets. Cost is up $100.00 over 10 games.
Ours also went up $100 over the course of the season. Considering my dad and his friends have been going to games since the Jets played at Yale, I don't think they're going to balk at that. And guess what? Some idiot (I also consider myself an idiot) is waiting in line that will gladly pay that exact same money to sit in our seats and buy a new PSL. So for the "dont give them your money" crowd... what's worse? Giving them $100 or giving them thousands on two new PSLs?
I salute you season ticket holders. You are hardcore fans. Me? I'm softcore, preferring the couch. If you enjoy going to the games despite the product on the field, then go for it.
My PSLs are $8,000.00 total for the 2 seats. Jets suck so there is little to no market for them. Long story short, they were an 35th anniversary gift. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Decision to do a payment plan or pay in full is due by December 1, 2025. If you don't renew you lose the PSLs?
For all of James Dolans faults, he at least came out years ago and promised he'd never raise the price on season tickets for the Knicks or Rangers if they came off a losing season. And he's kept his word throughout. I'm sure Woody's got nerdy accountants galore who've never seen a football game suggesting this every year, justifying the increase, but damn, I'd be nice if he'd think of the fans during this miserable run instead. I can see it now, in Woody's mind, "I payed for A A Ron to come here. It's not my fault he got hurt.......I've gotta recoup that terrible investment somehow. "
And, sadly, this is why this team will never amount to shit. Woody Johnson doesn't have to do jack or his good buddy shit because people will pay regardless and there are, as you state, a line of fools waiting to do the same.
There was a big dust-up in 2018 because a bunch of people walked away from their PSLs and the Jets turned around and sold those same exact seats to new season ticket holders without requiring a PSL. People in those Sections who had paid had a fit. The Jets FO response? "We can do what we want." I found out in my own case that after 55 years of being a season ticket holder, fealty didn't matter at ALL - PSL or no PSL - no matter what kind of shit they talked. I see your point, though. Enjoy your increase, I guess. Well, enjoy is the wrong word, I reckon, ha.
Basically 50% of my old beloved tailgating group. But, there's still plenty who did not. Probably more than half. The only good thing about all that, is that now the "Bills Mafia" gets to experience it. They get to pay for their new stadium, then get chained to ticket price increases at the whim of ownership. Enjoy.
Do you see yourself going back to being a Season Ticket Holder? If yes, then call your rep and see if they will give you a 1 year hiatus and allow you to keep your PSL without season tickets. But if you don't see yourself becoming a Season Ticket Holder again, either try to sell your PSL on the third party websites or call the Jets and tell them you are walking away and give your PSL back. I am saying this but let's be honest here. It is not a huge money we are talking about. With the parking pass it comes to be $2,000 or so. If you are a father and your kids go to games with you, no matter how shitty the product is, spending that money is OK. So I will never judge the season ticket holders for any reason. But I am so mad at Woody, every season ticket holder that bails, gives me joy and pleasure. Fock Woody!
I don’t disagree, but I have to touch on your example of a father going with a kid for the season. If they’re raising prices and can’t get a win, it’s incumbent to still be able to give a good gameday experience. Right now, outside of the actual game, the only experience it seems the Jets want to provide is the experience of getting drunk on beer in a depressing gray landscape of hell. Almost all signage within the corridors of the stadium is for beer ads. As an alcoholic maybe I’m more attuned to noticing it, but there is nothing in that stadium that brings pride to our history or past players. Nothing for a dad to point out to his kids at the game, “hey that’s big Joe Klecko up on the wall there, let me tell you how awesome he was when I was your age”.
You have a point for sure. Wish there was permanent fixtures inside the stadium like you describe. Maybe a Namath statue in front of the stadium. Then walls with pictures of Jets legends. We are probably years away from that happening.
