The Jets have apparently discovered some new secret type of coffee that takes about 36 months or more to roast. Would certainly explain what the scouts have been spending their time looking for.
I just realised that it was only last October that this team was described as being one of the most talented rosters the Jets have ever had.
From Cimini: For the second week in a row, the Jets had the ball at the end of the half and let the clock run out. Why not try a Hail Mary today? Aaron Glenn: "That was a situation where we just had two sacks ... Let's get out of it. Let's get out it, get into halftime and let's get ready to play the next half." What?! We took two sacks so let's not try to score on a riskless play as time expires? It's hard to even find the words anymore. It's just so nonsensical and stupid. There isn't a single good coach on the planet who approaches end of half strategy like this.
Maybe this is the approach to the season. We started out 0-4, so we're just getting out of it now here these last three weeks and will regroup and be ready to play in the second half of the season.
I don’t agree with it but I can probably live with that in week 2 or 3. Week 7 at 0-6? Throw the fucking hail Mary.
I can’t with this coach anymore I’ve never seen such a chickenshit pussy approach to the game… I’m telling you, he came into the season talking too much about how the Lions were 0-9 and he is just fine with it… The crap that comes out of his mouth I just can’t take it anymore Why don’t we just hand the ball to the other team next time…you know, that way we won’t have to worry about throwing a pick
Why didn't he challenge that second. int. by Tyrod? He won the first 2 challenges so the Jets had a third challenge? They showed the replay on the big screens it looked like the ball moved from the DB's hands when it hit the ground. Many fans wanted him to challenge that play. It made no sense why challenge spots but not that play? This coach and his staff don't seem to have a feel for the game. He passed up the fg attempt on the Jets first drive to go for it on 4th & 5 with Fields. Dude the team had minus 10 passing yards last week the team has trouble scoring why get greedy there? Kick the fg get the game started on a positive note. Then the defense makes a 4th down stop near midfield. First play after that the OC calls a run up the gut. He takes the air out of the ball he takes the air out of the stadium no balls, no aggressiveness, no killer instinct. Do they understand they're playing at home? Do they understand they have to get the home crowd involved in the game that we are their home field advantage? Do they understand momentum? Jets defense made another stop later in the game when Carolina was backed up deep. The Jets punt returner didn't catch the punt it rolled all the way back to around the Jets 20. It seems the Jets can't catch a break this season.
This gets repeated over and over but the guy here has never been a Jerry Jones. Exactly what is it that can be described as "meddling" other than possibly the Tebow, Favre and Rodgers marketing moves?
The Favre meddling meant he cut a beloved long time, home grown QB the Teblow thing resulted in the end of the Rex Ryan playoff era, we haven’t been there since and the Rodgers mess, we are still living in. Ain’t it fun
I don't care if the guy was born on the fifty yard line at Shea Stadium or who (be)loves him or how long he's been here. I care about a quarterback who can lead a team and win football games.
No, I was trying to find out what point is made by all those comments that Woody Johnson constantly "meddles" in the operation of the business he owns. Twenty-five years of subpar quarterbacking was not altered by a few marketing moves by the owner. What else is there?
You provided three major examples of QBs he meddled in acquiring that were sub-par. You answered your own question
Three times in twenty-five years he made marketing decisions to sell more tickets. That is neither "constant meddling" nor did it cause any change in the fate of the Jets for better or for worse, As I asked before, and you declined to answer: "How did they change the franchise?"
Uhh, please examine your comment. three major examples of QBs he meddled in acquiring that were sub-par Tebow..YUP. Favre, 8-3 before injury and team finished over 500. Rodgers, we might wait many more years to match his performance last year., plus being saddled with extremely poor line play in prior years.
He must have been still confused if this was a 1st down and whether we get the ball in the second half. The bottom line is, this is his nature: run the ball, race to 20. Then improperly applied unnatural aggressiveness he tried to learn from Campbell to go for it on 4th and 5 from 33, when your offense is struggling and you can just take a lead with a FG. It's tough to watch.
