I'm watching a Giants team put it to the Broncos in royal fashion. Jaxson Dart is proving that without a viable QB, you're not competitive in this league anymore. The day of the defense centric HC and staffs is outdated as the league has indeed moved on. GLENN and Mougie will have to change their entire philosophy if this team will ever become relevant again.

If this regime suffers the same fate as the ones before it? Woody will be FORCED to hire his next HC/GM combo from the ranks of those who have done the job before. Either the GM or the HC has to have done the job at an successful level or its a failure before it even begins. Either the lighting in a bottle philosophy comes to an end with the next hire OR, the Fanbase should simply abandon the Jets and move on.

Glenn had better change his attitude or else he'll wind up in the same trash heap as his predecessors who came in with a defense first mandate.

Agree 100% with the first paragraph.

    Re: the second -

The GM/HC candidates with good experience aren't usually available to hire. The ones that do have good experience, like Vrabel, have their choice of franchise and are highly unlikely to choose the Jets with all of our baggage/Woody looking over their shoulder.

We're just going to have to get lucky hiring some young, under the radar HC/GM who no one else realizes is good yet. The HC should be an offensive guy and the GM should be someone heavily analytics-focused.

The Jets NEVER get lucky at anything... EVER..

That being said, its probably gonna take a prior HC choosing his GM OR a prior GM choosing his HC. This idea of some hiring consortium making the decision has not worked for Woody. Woody is too fckn stubborn to hire a VP of Football Ops to run the operation so instead, he hires essentially a Robert Half hiring group to do the leg work.

“Experienced” GM also doesn’t really exist. I don’t feel like doing the research tonight but I remember looking it up a couple years ago and it was like 31/32 GM’s have only had one GM job. The second chance GM doesn’t exist. You just have to hire a smart guy from a good operation and trust he’ll bring a bunch of good scouts in.

Not for nothing but action Jackson just puked that game away.

It is really disheartening to see the Jets getting lapped by the Pats, Broncos, Colts, Bears, Giants, Cardinals, etc. Everyone else seems to be able to stumble into some kind of turnaround, but the Jets keep sprinting in quicksand.

We've all seen the pre-draft videos of offensive coaches grilling QB prospects on film, play design, etc. I don't know the last coach we had that I could imagine doing that.

What consulting firms did they use for their turnarounds?

Yes, it is a strange and unique phenomenon that exists solely in the personnel department of pro football teams.

Margin for error is essentially zero as a GM

SOLUTION: Hire Rex as the head coach and Jon Gruden as general manager and offensive coordinator.

Wow the Giants are awful!!! I can't believe they gave up 33 points in a single quarter and choked away a 19-0 lead despite putting up 2 fourth quarter TDs. That might be worse than any coaching job the Jets have had in the last 20 years. I've never seen that happen before. Dominated through 3 quarters then a complete choke job.

The difference is that man, with the Giants, you now have some hope. Dart has looked the part pretty damn well…he brings energy, and Scatteboo is having a huge impact too…he reminds me a lot of how Shockey used to play when he came into the league…just looking for contact and bowling people over…that energizes the whole team. They’ve had some tough losses because they are still kind of learning how to win, but they also have some great wins against a then unbeaten Chargers team and then against the Eagles. We can only dream of quality wins like that.

The difference is they have hope. You can see a future with that QB (who we passed on of course! Though to be fair so did many other teams and he was by no means a slam dunk).

We have NO hope. We have NO QB on this team worth shit. And we have a rookie coach who looks so out of his depth it’s not even funny…AG looks totally clueless…he looks clueless about schemes, about evaluating players, and about gameday decisions and clock mgmt.

He looks so lost it’s disgusting to watch.

Our team struggles at everything…seven games and still only ONE takeaway…this has to be historically bad. Just so many issues and it’s not all on the roster. This is a BAD coaching staff.

But Woody keeps hiring defensive guys who’ve never done it before, and with Glenn, he didn’t even get a defensive guys with a top defense…he got a tough talking guy who road the coattails of Campbell and Johnson.

But Woody is too fucking stupid to see any of that.

This organization is in such bad shape and the owner is delusional. The idiot hired 2 failed GM’s to go out and find a GM and coach, and they came back recommending he do exactly what he’s done now 5 times already in hiring a former DC to be a 1st time HC. What in the actual fuck!?!

We are a decade away from thoughts of fielding a SB caliber team. What we need is stability and leadership from someone who knows what they’re doing. Not necessarily a SB coach, but a coach who’s proven to have led a respectable team with a clean operation. Aaron Glenn is so far over his head and out of his depths, keeping him past this season will only continue to plummet this organization further into the depths of incompetence. He’s not a leader.
