He's not a great running QB. He's a great runner from the QB spot. The problem is he's a terrible QB.

Great running QBs like Lamar and Vick were actually good QBs, so teams had to worry about their passing first and running second. But Fields is just the latest in a long line of athletic players who teams have (mis)-projected at the QB spot.

I’m only half there on this. He’s a coach killer up to the point where the coach keeps playing him, and plays him in the worst possible way for whatever skills he may have. Then it shifts from a player issue to a coaching issue. He’s solely responsible for who gets on the field. That’s my problem with Glenn.

That, and the blank stares. I don’t do well with blank stares.

He's got that 1000 yard stare that took Saleh 3 seasons to get

feels like a dead man walking and it's not even mid season

That answers your question, Fields is a coach killer, why is Glenn leaving him in then?

Well, as a starter ... when the owner makes a dumbfuck coach signing (like Aaron Glenn) that should be obvious to anyone with a pulse is not a high-quality head coach candidate, rather than everyone in the fanbase going through the motions and saying, "He's really saying all the right things at his press conference!," and "He's a hardnose type of coach!," and "Well, he played for Parcells once ... something must have rubbed off," ... and instead made Woody's life miserable by calling in to WFAN relentlessly saying, "Woody is the dumbest human being on the planet," (which might not be hyperbole) and wearing bags on their heads at games and mocking Woody at every opportunity ...

... he might actually wake up one day and say "this shit isn't worth it," and sell the team. But that's not what this fanbase does anymore. It makes every excuse in the book for Woody when he does dumb shit. The number of (1) dumb hirings, and (2) waiting an extra two years to fire someone after it is obvious they are incompetent, is jaw dropping. And for at least the last two decades, at every step of the way, we have our fanbase making up excuses. The latest one was we could never win with the Hall of Fame QB and WR combination (that was under contract and wanted to play here), which the media planted in everyones' heads because Wilson wanted his best friend to be QB instead, so everyone piled on and pressured Woody to get rid of them. Then he hired an inexperienced defensive coordinator (for a team that has never sniffed a Super Bowl) as head coach and a no-name for general manager and our fanbase is like, "Oh well, I guess maybe they'll pan out!" There were plenty of experienced coaches that would have taken this job in a heartbeat, but nope, not good enough for us. We need to cheerlead hiring a never-accomplished-anything dipshit instead.

We used to be a fanbase that booed (immediately, and loudly, and relentlessly) when our ownership and front office did stupid things.

*Insert Jets fans Draft Pick montage*

This team sucks. Anyone with two brain cells knew Glenn was going to suck, knew Darren Mougey was going to suck, knew Justin Fields was going to suck, knew not having any other receivers on the team other than Wilson (who is supremely overrated, btw) was dumb, knew Sauce Gardner was overrated and never should be given the contract he got. Everyone should have known immediately that Rodgers and Adams would be starting on playoff teams the instant they left here, too (because they aren't fucking losers).

Tomlin had enough and pulled Fields with a 4-2 record, yet AG is gonna ride with Fields, ok. If -10 passing yards doesn't get him a seat on the bench and a coach who's incredulous that's even being asked is borderline delusional, not too mention utter incompetence. I don't know who's demeanor I find more off-putting, AG's blank stare or Field's look of utter indifference...

Oh ok cool. The WFAN callers weren’t harsh enough on the Glenn hire so they’re the reason the franchise is the worst in all of sports.

    What a dumbfuck take.

I've noticed this too. Id rather have the coach be tired of this shit in a few games and not wait 3 seasons at least.

There is a reason Justin Fields was let go by his first two teams. He cannot read defenses and hold on the ball too long. His second read option is always tuck the ball and run. The only benefit is we can opt out of Fields second year and save money, plus Taylor is on his last year too. If we are going to suck and loose, why not bring back the rookie Brady Cook to the 53 and give him some practice reps with starters and possible time under center in a game? Neither Taylor or Fields is the answer and I think we should see what Cook has before we draft another QB in the top of the draft. The worst thing would be we suck a little more and get the 1st pick in the draft. If AG is still the HC and goes into 2026 with Fields as the starter, I'm throwing in the flag. I need a realistic shot of supporting a SB caliber team before I die and the last 50 years have mostly sucked. Sadly Rex Ryan gave me my happiest days as a Jets fan.

The fact that AG thinks it’s good coaching to defend a QB with -10 passing yards reflects he has no idea what makes a good coach. There’s no way anyone in the locker room respects him for being so afraid to even remotely intimate Fields’ performance was terrible.
