A big enough check would have Gruden walking through our door. Same for McCarthy. You posted a while back correlating his inexperience to being a coach being akin to a mechanic learning to pop the hood. You are way off. Being able to understand the game and all its nuances should absolutely be in his repertoire from day one. That’s what being a position coach, coordinator, assistant HC is for. You work your way up. The only thing that is new to becoming a HC is the reality of whether you truly have it in you to motivate and lead a room of grown men to push beyond their comfort zones and abilities, and to hire the right coordinators to appropriate a gameplan that the players believe in and puts them in a position to be their best. Leadership is discovered within yourself once you’ve been put to the test to be a leader. Some rise to the occasion, others get tuned out entirely. A team that is not giving their all to the whistle is a surefire sign of a HC that isn’t respected.
And the problem is I don’t think players are all that afraid of getting cut other than the scrubs barely hanging on…others would find a way to another team that will invariably be better run than we are
He sucks. What gets me is suppsedly these coaches spend countless hours breaking down film, gameplanning, practice. That is the best he can come up with after all that time? That is what they're telling the players all week long this is how we're going to 'attack' Denver's defense?
I think Fields is a bigger problem than Engstrand. But dude you have to try playing to Fields' strengths more. More designed runs, more RPOs. If you take away his running ability you have a QB who would never have sniffed the NFL. That said, throws were late, guys were open, holds the ball longer than any QB in the NFL, so that's the main problem
I don't appreciate Glenn snapping at reporters for asking about Fields. It's a fair question dude. Just say he's your starter right now or you need to look at the tape or we need to be better. Don't get pissy. Glenn is wearing on me FAST.... you're not Bill Parcells dude. Your team is a fucking mess and could be getting skewered even worse than you are
It was the worst press conference I've seen from a Jets coach. Ever. What happened to the accountability there, Coach?
To do a punt fake on the 4th down in your own territory (and actually succeed) with the objective to run out the clock in the half is something I don't think has ever happened before or will ever happen again in the NFL.
We are not that far from mutiny on the ship... https://x.com/snyjets/status/1977429334479564914 https://x.com/ZackBlatt/status/1977428144043774350

Ya--the OC takes a guy who can run and not pocket pass, and designs plays for a pocket passer. How f stupid--he's probably a laughingstock in nfl circles now.
Agreed, but at some point, you have to have a QB that can make basic fucking throws….none of these plays are asking Fields to throw 25 yards downfield between 3 defenders…these are simple fucking concepts with guys actually being open, but this piece of shit so-called QB can’t see anything. Anything. I blame the player more than the OC…guys were open, there were throws to be made, but this player can’t see or make the simple throws. But yeah, that last drive, we were close to FG range, just run the fucking ball and kick a FG. No idea why, at THAT point, with the game on the line, he decides to throw. Bad coaching yes, but this is on Fields. And if Fields starts next week, that’s on Fucking AG. At this point, I want the whole fucking staff fired this year…and I want Fields cut. He sucks…I’d rather watch Taylor or even Brady Cook at this point…not like they can be any worse than a fucking net negative 10 yards passing, right?
I could see there being a chance of this if they get completely blown out (which they will) at home by Carolina next week.
If he doesn't bench fields now he should be fired, He had a chance today to bench fields and didn't. 1/2 time adjustment are not only about making adjustments but looking at the personal that gives you the best chance to win... There is no logical reason why he kept him in the game except for maybe his EGO...doesn't want to admit that his choices of Fields and Stephens are catastrophic failures..
Yes, Fields absolutely cost us the game, but Engstrand was awful today as well not adjusting to how bad Fields was. If Glenn does not put Tyrod in the second half and you have to work with Fields, you have to play to his strengths. We only needed 6 points from the offense. "I don’t understand how they’re utilizing Justin. He struggles as a pocket passer. Get him on the edges with boots/nakeds in the passing game" https://x.com/damienwoody/status/1977387197410988223
I don’t care This is 100% on Fields If you are the OC…I don’t think it’s off base to say that at some point, your QB HAS to make BASIC fucking throws. Our OC had guys open all day. This is not on the OC. Just like too many people made MLF the scapegoat for Zach. This is the same fucking shit. Fields sucks…he is Zach level suck. There is no OC that can win with this player at QB. None. I refuse to scapegoat an OC who calls plays that have guys open but we have one of the worst QBs playing making him look bad. It’s like someone else said earlier (maybe this thread or another), but Fields is a coach-killer. He is. You can not win with him. Shit, even here, we have plenty of people criticizing the OC. I call bullshit…he’s not the best for sure, but this game and our offense in general is 100% on Fields.
I know, and I like Tanner too, I do think he could be like MILF and overall has done a good job. But in this game when we got to their 47 yard line with Fields having literally 0 total passing yards, just call a few designed runs, roll him out to cut the field in half or something. You just need 7 yards. You don't even need to pass at that point. So yeah definitely it is on Fields. But AG and Tanner will not be without blame either when the offense scores 3 points all game.
I was thinking about the decision not to retain Rodgers and just to slightly defend them - they couldn't win with Rodgers and he was not likely to play beyond this season - so if they kept him there would have been continued drama, we still would have had a bad year and probably missed the playoffs and then next season we would have nothing. With Fields there was always a chance that it would work and if it did then the Jets would have found a QB that could play the next 8-10 years for them. It hasn't worked but that doesn't mean it was a crazy thing to try.
