In a sport that forces teams back to the mean through salary caps and draft picks, what we have achieved is way more impressive that any dynasty built by the Patriots, Chiefs etc. I don't think we celebrate our shitness anywhere near enough.
I don’t think Glenn is gone next year. Maybe if we go 0 - 17 or 1 - 16, but even then I am not so sure.
This is where I'm at. It's just too "the same" with an entirely new coaching staff to be this "similar." It's what I mean by Glenn can yell, talk, cajole, cry, pleade, teach, coach or whatever but if the players aren't RECEIVING it then what is that man supposed to do, exactly. Don't commit penalties yet penalties they commit Don't run out of the end zone with the ball in your hands yet they do Don't hit men 3 yds. out of bounds, yet they do Wrap up when you tackle but they don't It looks EXACTLY like last year and the year before that. I simply can't believe former player, Aaron Glenn, he who has worked his ass off to climb the ranks only to not know how to do ANYTHING at the HC level. Someone mentioned they were getting "Pete Carroll vibes" and I agree. Those of you claiming one and done may be right. Something tells me Glenn would go on to be successful, like so many former Jets do. I don't know what to put my finger on but I'd be willing to be Johnson has something to do with this. Can't remember the sport or team but a bunch of years back there was a story that the owner was very friendly with a LOT of the players and there was a lot of undermining of coaches etc. The whole family, especially the older boys. I'm NOT saying that's what's going on here but how do you explain the similarity between how the teams act and play across now two regimes. I don't know, maybe I'm into Voo Doo to figure out what's wrong with this organization.
Saleh typically fielded competitive defenses, particularly against the pass. This defense is trash + all the other crappy stuff.
Why is this a disaster? What were you expecting? The playoffs never should have been in discussion this year; anyone expecting that just hasn't been paying attention for years. If we don't begin to see them play tougher and cut down on the bonehead mistakes and penalties by the end of the season the conversation may change.
I also think we should be at least somewhat patient. If for no other reason than we have precious few other options. Aaron Glenn has some serious NFL chops and I don't think its impossible that he could do a little bit of a turnaround both in the W/L column and in the culture building. I think he's gotten some bad breaks, bad efforts, untimely penalties, horrible fumble by Gipson which was a little flukey, I don't think his staff is all that great (which would be kind of expected) yet etc. At some point we gotta stick with somebody. It has been effing bad though so far. My god has it been bad.
There's nothing else to call it other than a disaster. This has the potential to devolve into the worst season in franchise history, which would be a major accomplishment for this team considering the vast number of awful Jets teams they would have to beat out to earn that honor. I usually lean in a more pessimistic direction on just about everything, but I had them at around 5 wins for the season. I didn't even for a second think that it could possibly go this bad. Obviously, they could still reach those 5 wins, but the current available evidence doesn't even lend itself to expecting even half that many wins coming this season.
Wow that is difficult to believe. If that happens and they don't beat Carolina at home next week we'll start hearing rumblings of a possible 0-for season. Let's hope they show up today against Denver. One win can change everything.
Glenn will be lucky to make it to the bye week at this point. I've never seen such atrocious clock management in my entire life. Do these assholes not comprehend what a 2 minute drill is? These mistakes are like things you'd see in peewee football league. What absolute stupidity. This might actually be the worst coaching staff in Jets history.
-.4 yards per pass play. I don’t care if it came against the best defense in the league, that’s pure humiliation. This team is a disgrace even by Jets standards. edit: missed the minus part and changed an adjective.
Woody needs to make NFL history and make the Jets the first team to fire their coach after a loss in London two years in a row.
