....and Jets thought they were smarter than anybody else. I admit. I was one of the fools who liked what Glenn said during off season. But after 5 games into the season, it is obvious he is not the right guy for the job. I am not that old but old enough not wanting to endure 2-3 years of Glenn's ineptitude. We can't change Woody and his trust fund baby Brick. But can we at least change the Head Coach after 1 year of disaster?
If you listen to his press conferences he seems delusional. I mean, he says he knows where they are at, yet last week and this week he stated that they had a good week of pratice. God help us, cause if he thinks they are praticing well,,,then lookout. The OC and DC are just as bad.... what a mess.
There’s a bit more juice in the juice box. Don’t throw it out before you finish the whole thing. If we get many more effort on defense as we saw against the Cowboys and Dolphins, Glenn needs to be seriously evaluated as a one and done. Until then, let’s give him some more time. He was voted as the players favorite coach in the entire league, wasn’t he? I doubt he has a hard time connecting with players. Hopefully the last couple games were anomalies. There wasn’t a lack of effort in the first three in my eyes.
Jets have never ever gone 0-6. Sunday, we will be 0-6. This is the deep point for this franchise. Not early really
0-5 Effectively eliminated from playoff contention in September This is pretty much a disaster And the eye test backs it up…this team does not play hard and does not play smart…this team is not improving or learning from it’s mistakes…this team is setting records for ineptitude If you don’t see this as a disaster then man I’d hate to see what you would call a disaster This team is not full of talent but this coaching staff is not maximizing the talent we do have…it is not coaching anyone up…this is a bad coaching job no joke
Things can turn around pretty fast in the NFL... Penalties and boneheaded plays can be fixed. However... the lack of effort by certain players is not a good sign. If they're mailing it in by week 5 that's a bad sign. I think losing Quincy W. was a big blow to the defense... and I'm not seeing any player stepping up to lead on either side of the ball. Fields looks like he'd rather be somewhere else... he's a net negative. This team needs a culture enema...
In a sport that forces teams back to the mean through salary caps and draft picks, what we have achieved is way more impressive that any dynasty built by the Patriots, Chiefs etc. I don't think we celebrate our shitness anywhere near enough.
Why is this a disaster? What were you expecting? The playoffs never should have been in discussion this year; anyone expecting that just hasn't been paying attention for years. If we don't begin to see them play tougher and cut down on the bonehead mistakes and penalties by the end of the season the conversation may change.
I also think we should be at least somewhat patient. If for no other reason than we have precious few other options. Aaron Glenn has some serious NFL chops and I don't think its impossible that he could do a little bit of a turnaround both in the W/L column and in the culture building. I think he's gotten some bad breaks, bad efforts, untimely penalties, horrible fumble by Gipson which was a little flukey, I don't think his staff is all that great (which would be kind of expected) yet etc. At some point we gotta stick with somebody. It has been effing bad though so far. My god has it been bad.
There's nothing else to call it other than a disaster. This has the potential to devolve into the worst season in franchise history, which would be a major accomplishment for this team considering the vast number of awful Jets teams they would have to beat out to earn that honor. I usually lean in a more pessimistic direction on just about everything, but I had them pegged around 5 wins for the season. I didn't even for a second think that it could possibly go this bad. Obviously, they could still reach those 5 wins, but the current available evidence doesn't even lend itself to expecting even half that many wins coming this season.
