That was a great defense. First two years 2009 & 2010 could be one of the more underrated defenses of the past 25 years. I think right up there with any great defense of the past 25 years Ray Lewis Ravens, Sapp Bucs, Legion of Boom etc. that Jets defense was right up there with any unit but they won't get the credit they deserve because they didn't win it all. That's the problem I have with how Coach Glenn wants to play with this team it's fine to Ground n Pound as has been stated in this thread to play that way ya better have a great defense and still have to have a semblance of balance in the passing attack. This Jets team doesn't pass the ball they hardly try they only open it up when they're down big. Yes they try to run but the defense hasn't been good enough, they don't pass the ball when games are still at a competitive stage. When/if this Jets team gets down by a couple of scores 10-14 points it feels like a huge insurmountable deficit.
Among a billion other reasons I think DJ Reed always did a lot more good things than maybe we even realized. He was just simply an important player and we don't have him anymore. I think he was an important person as well.
