I have to disagree with that; it wasn't Alben Barkley who had the sign on his desk that read "The Buck Stops Here."
Anyone bitching about Glenn, should check out, I didn't dislike him, but now I love him, see ya Gipson, hopefully others will shape up! Can't recall the last coach, first game of the season to boot a player, finally my type of coach!
I get that Wilks is the DC, but in the end, the buck stops with Glenn…as the HC, he has the power and the right and the responsibility to get the DC to do better. So yeah, I agree with your point about AG’s word should be law and would hope that he gets on Wilks to make whatever tweaks need to be made. For what it’s worth, I was ok with the Wilks hire when it was made as I think he’s been a pretty good DC at previous stops, but now that I think about it, as someone else pointed out in an earlier post, it does seem like he doesn’t stay in one place too long…there may be something there with him that rubs people the wrong way…we’ll see how it goes, but our secondary play was atrocious and needs to be fixed
Gipson cut is a good sign, but his job is still not done, lets see how much playing time Stephens get this week vs a elite quarterback and if he does play how he reacts. Stephens was worse than Gipson last game. And did more dumb shit. Easy to cut Gipson and make a statement but how will he handle Stephens as Stephens was the new regime big signing and Gipson was not?
Yeah…cutting a kick returner fringe guy is one thing, cutting a starting corner that you just signed to a big free agent deal is not gonna happen after one game. Two very different positions…you can find a dozen guys to go return kicks…we can bring up a guy from the practice squad. Can’t find starting corners as easily…and I know I’m using the term “starting” corner a bit loosely as Stephens in no way looked like a starter last game. So unfortunately we are going to have to hope the coaches can get a better performance out of Stephens, tweak the schemes to help him, or play more of the backups if they feel they can…we’ll see how it goes But yeah, if Stephens is still playing like this in 6 or 8 games, he’ll need to ride the bench But treating players fairly does not necessarily mean treating them all the same…it’s all relative Some positions are tougher than others, or harder to find good players, etc. Just like great players will get more leeway than poor players because they’ve earned that…
Now if they can manage to transform Brandon Stephens into a serviceable CB, it would be a huge achievement. What Wilks doesn't need is Kyle Wilson II. This has become the latest fire that needs to be put out.
Yeah if its anything that Aaron Glenn should know how to coach up is defensive backs since he was a pretty good defensive back, lets hope it was just one bad game.
