Agree to disagree. He had time to turn his head looking downfield, he had time to go helmet to the ground and at least begin to cover up in preparation for the hit. He was eager to take off and lost track of Ramsey.
First Jets squad ever to drop 30 plus points on the steelers. That’s a positive for me. My brother in-law is a huge steelers fan and he was worried the whole game and that rarely happens. Another positive They played better than anytime under Salah or Gase. Plus for sure. Not happy with how they lost the game but I think 39 years of this team skews that emotional outcome for me anyways. Overall it looks like they will not be a pushover and the laughing stock of the NFL and that is great. Go Jets!
Given the time crunch, he also could have also go down giving himself up & call a TO. Garrett had YAC dreams.
I am very happy how Fields and offense performed, and that maybe, just maybe, there is a chance we will have a franchise QB, which is something to be optimistic about. But at the end of the day, though I am probably the most optimistic about him along with @legler82 we don't know for sure if Fields is the guy long term yet. We have a season going on now, and it was another brutal loss in a game we should have won. Pitt is not some juggernaut where it is positive outcome that we got Pitt fans worried. They are a fringe play-off team and frankly if we want to be a play-off team, we should be able to beat teams like that as much as they beat us if not more. Unfortunately it didn't happen. As far as the HC is concerned, I wouldn't say we played better. Last year we lost I think 6 games where we had a lead in the 4th, including to play-off teams. We were not blown out every game either. We had a 4th quarter lead on Sunday and lost. Where it is different from Saleh is that our offense was good and defense sucked, whereas with Saleh it was mostly the opposite, but I wouldn't say we played better overall. Until AG starts winning, the whole culture thing is bullshit. So far (and it's very early) the result is the same as last year: competitive game, 4th quarter lead and a back breaking disappointing loss. We need to get some wins, that's the bottom line. Not just make the opposing teams nervous, but finish the job. Hopefully it starts this Sunday with the Bills.
Where I think we are significantly different is in the resilience and grit of this team. After the bone head plays that cost us a 14 point swing, the offense came back on fire, methodical, great calls and we scored. In the past we would have spilled into a mess. To me. Our secondary completely let us down. And Quincy’s bone head play did not help any. Gibson fumble by carrying the ball in the wrong arm was inexcusable. No way we should loose games after scoring 32 points.
Barf I am banning you a week. When you come back, please refrain from your ill thoughts. Unacceptable.
I don't know, LA. Against good Minny team last year, the game that got Bob fired, we were down 17-0 and came back within 3, defense clamped them in the second half, and we nearly won in the end. And that's the point - this "nearly" is what happened again vs Pitt. Or even against Denver after they took the lead, we got into the FG range, where the kicker fucked up. Yes, the script was a bit different with offense doing better than defense, but overall it was similar story with similar outcome. There is even a constant: back breaking ST mistakes and killer penalties, like the ones you referenced.. My point is, we cannot look at this game and say AG is better than Saleh. Not based on this game. It's early and I hope he will be, but in this game what we can say is QB was better, maybe we even have hope for FQB finally, OC was better, but defense was worse than before, ST sucked like before, and overall it's the same type of self inflicted failure. We've seen this play out too many times to say things are different. It's early, and I hope they will be different starting on Sunday and we will pull one out, but not yet, not after last Sunday. We need to win and change the narrative. Hopefully soon.
I thought the difference is that the offense came out with a plan. The defense didn’t and fucking sucked but I don’t think it was a lack of skill or plan - they just blew coverages left and right. It should be an easy fix but we’ll see. It just sucks wasting what feels like the best offensive performance in Jets history lol. It wasn’t but I think we were all pretty shocked at how they played.
don’t expect the defense to be any better this week and fixed, Josh Allen is one of the most high iq quarterbacks in the league and is going to attack every weak link on this team.
Feel free to make all the comments you want on Japanese websites regarding suicide; if it is inappropriate there, as it is here, I'm sure you will be so informed, as if you care. Americans have a much different viewpoint and you have no idea who you may be offending or who has been affected by such things here. Of course if you're trying to be offensive, that won't matter to you, you succeeded at that a long time ago. This is way off topic for a football related message board. It is clear you have no shame. Yes, Johnson & Johnson has been a major player in baby care products; poisoning their customer base was never part of the business plan. That too is far from being relevant here; this is about the New York Jets.
You may want to examine why you have such hopes that you plan on their being crushed every year. Perhaps an adjustment on your part closer to reality is in order.
That is an amazing stat. The Jets and Steelers have played almost 30 times. Never once before Sunday did the Jets score even more than 24 points …. Wow.
AG is a Parcells disciple and as such, won't hesitate to take over the defense if Wilks can't get his swiss cheese zones to start producing positive results. Our biggest problem stands out like pepper in the salt shaker. Brandon Stephens will be targeted relentlessly by Allen and hiding him in a soft zone won't help. If Stephens can't cover anybody, send him on blitzes so at least he can be useful when he's on the field.
Alot of bitchin' in this thread.... it's as if the JETS are entering the season as divisional champs and not last place doormats. Yes, the result sucked, but overall happy how they played sans the few stupid plays discussed ad nauseam... (one getting the guy his walking papers). Alot also contributed due to roster holes / flaws that most people with a brain were expecting Offense: Justin Fields looked better than EVERYONE expected. Not ready to anoint him the franchise (Several passes were a bit behind the receiver) but as a complete game (including his legs) he played very well. Cudos to the coaching staff / game plan as well Running game: Breece looked like rookie Breece... Maybe the knees fullly healed, but probably motivated by $$ as it's his year to cash in, but hopefully runs like that all year Oline: this is on a curve. They lost Tucker to start the season, so considering that they played pretty well. Hopefully they gel and improve WR: Wilson looks good as always, but as expected, not having a solid #2 (and 3) will limit him and the offense as a whole Defense: Played the run well. Secondary let too many guys WIDE open. I knew losing Reed would be bad, so not really surprised, but this was worse than expected. I hope Malachai Moore gets up to the level I think he can be. Specials... well Gipson got the axe today, and hopefully they don't suffer from the kicker yips like last year (and why I wouldve kicked the xp after he missed the first, to wipe the slate clean) Penalties. Hit out of bounds by Quincy was STUPID. But being one of the hardest playing guys on the team he gets a pass for now. The boys sticking up for the QB before the half... well, one of the few times I liked a stupid penalty. Overall: Team played with some fire, and hopefully continue to be the "scrappy underdog" for the rest of the season (it's all I expected) *Oh, and if you didnt expect Aaron Rodgers to have a big day, you havent been paying attention to this team for very long
