A first time Hc should not start their time with a personality like Rodgers’s . It might work with the Steelers and Tomlin. But I also do not expect to see huge run from them. There was a lot being said about how he was overriding everyone , causing problems. No thanks.
Only 1 game to judge but so far Aaron Glenn shown he is a Robert Saleh Clone with way worse defense. Burning timeouts down the stretch, players commiting dumb penalties and blunders in the 4th quarter is so Robert Saleh like, Guy preaches discipline and talks a good game but the defense came out totally flat and unprepared, and the team imploded in the 4th quarter just like Saleh's teams, Even Garrett Wilson dropped a pass he usually never drops. I really do hope he fixes this before his time runs short here, but judging from Woody's previous hires I highly doubt it.
He blew a 9 point lead and his defense and team totally imploded you call that better? Pittsburg didn't beat us in the 4th quarter we beat ourselves, pure image of last year.
Guys. Until Glenn proves his doubters wrong, a lot of folks will bitch and moan. And I won't criticize them for it. Let them bitch and moan. If Glenn reverses the curse, we will turn back to them and run them out of town. But until then, let's not criticize Jets fans who criticize Glenn. That said, @SOXXX2 - You are becoming very repetitive. Just saying. Peace.
Exactly this has nothing to do with Aaron Glenn it has to do with Woody's 24 year sample side, so far Woody has shown that he hires nothing but incompetent "rookie head coaches", and judging from the 4th quarter of last game Aaron Glenn seems just as incompetent. Hopefully he proves me and other doubters wrong but if you are saying the Jets didn't "implode" under Aaron Glenn in the 4th quarter and commit stupid mistakes and have stupid penalties and should of won this game without the dumb mistakes, you can't be for real. If you say taking 2 timeouts for no reason and Saleh Like is smart in the 2nd half you can't be for real!
Making mistakes is forgiveable. Repeating mistakes is the real problem. Glenn is a first time Head Coach. He went against Super Bowl winning Head Coach and Super Bowl winning QB. His team played good football but he made mistakes. Let's wait a full season to see if he learns from his mistakes.
Yes 5 years in Saleh never learned from his mistakes, Glenn only has 1 game under his belt and that game was not a good 1st impression, hopefully he is smart enough to learn on the job but we shall see. But after 14 years of no playoffs and hiring Rookie coaches we needed a change and Woody did the same dumb shit all over again by hiring Aaron Glenn(a rookie), that's why us pessimistic people will be pessimistic until Aaron Glenn proves us wrong. Every time he screws something up people will be saying "he is just a rookie head coach he will learn don't worry". Like it should of never came down to this after seeing total shitshows from Gase, Saleh and Ulbrich why are people so confident about Glenn and thinking it will be different? Like honestly we have no choice now but to hope he learns on the job because we obviously can't fire him after 1 game or 1 season. That's the thing it will take multiple seasons to find out if he can coach a damn and if he is capable of coaching in this league.
It’s almost like it wasn’t week one, with a new regime . Seriously, if this type of thing continues , and we continue to lose games in this manner in a regression, fine. But this is just getting ridiculous.
I am with you 100%. But Glenn is not responsible for Woody's past mistakes. That's why I will give him a full year.
Nothing with you is as consistent as your inconsistency. Except the narrowness of your viewpoint, of course.
As angry as I am about the Jets loss to the Steelers, its hard for me to put the blame on Aaron Glenn rather than the POS secondary. The only mistake Aaron Glenn made in that game IMHO was that awful timeout call before the second two-point conversion attempt. If that is the worst thing a new HC does in his first game ever, I will not complain about his performance. Now, the true test for Aaron Glenn for me is what will he do about this POS secondary coming off this performance?
Wilks is the DC not Glenn so put the onus on the DC. Its on him to get his secondary up to speed although he is handicapped with an obvious lack of talent on that unit other than Sauce.
Idk we will see, I think it is concerning/interesting that Wilks and Glenn have traditionally had different strategies. Wilks has been a zone coordinator. Glenn is heavier into man. So the front office sent the zone corners packing in the offseason, and yet the Jets were still heavy zone week 1. I see some friction there. And with Wilks being a guy who doesn’t stick around long anywhere I wouldn’t be surprised if this friction grows, Glenn takes over the defense more this season, and Wilks ultimately leaves after the season
I understand your point, but it was Glenn preaching about accountability not Wilks. If he is going to talk the talk, he better walk the walk.
I'm not sure why Glenn said they played a lot of man. Every big play came when Wilks' zone got shredded by Rodgers. I thought they played too much zone after it had become apparent the Secondary hasn't gotten the system down pat yet. All those missed assignments and handoffs were red flags Wilks should have picked up on instead of stubbornly sticking with his zone on 3rd and longs.
Looks like Gipson walks the plank today so Glenn is living up to his word. As BN noted, Glenn is a man coverage guy while Wilks is a zone guy. Since Glenn is the boss, his word should be law and Wilks will have to live with it or walk when the season is over. Either way, if Wilks' zone continues to get abused, I can see Glenn mandating more man-coverages and blitzes. Whether Wilks likes it or not is immaterial but he is the DC and the buck stops there first.
especially against a QB in Rodgers that has seen it all and isn’t going to be tricked by any zone look
