Yeah, this wasn't some vintage performance. I mean credit to the guy for taking advantage of our zone coverage breakdowns, he played solid, did not drop off a cliff compared to last year, but this is the same immobile Rodgers we had last season, who is a shell of his former self.

He got very lucky not to get intercepted twice plus a lucky bounce at the end of the game when the pass was broken up but the ball fell to the guy on the ground. I would say ok/solid overall performance yesterday. Last year he had a significant decline after a few games when he was hit. I still expect the same to happen later this year.

Playcalling was a breath of fresh air. Creative and unpredictable. Avoided the types of long-developing plays Fields tends to struggle with.

Breece looked great, explosive and decisive.

WR is a one man show. Same with our DBs.

Will McDonald looked great. He's developed quite a few moves.

    OL looked great.

Overall, I left this game with a really positive impression of the team. Felt like we had an actual NFL offense for the first time in years. We were aggressive and we moved the chains. We kept negative plays to a minimum via smart playcalls.

Still some boneheaded penalties, but they're a lot easier to stomach when you're not scoring 6 points a game.

Anyone else's find it ironic that Gipson won the game Opening day at home in 2023 with his TD return, and now has lost the game at home Opening day 2025 with that fumble? Even Steven. You can go now Xavier.

    - Exciting game... 0-line looked good... which is key.

    - Fields played very well... kept the game in front of him and moved the chains effectively.

    - Gotta shore up our secondary... too many missed assignments.

    - Was hoping to see Mason Rudolph play... ;)

    - Gipson gotta go... he adds nothing to this team.

    - We were out-coached... no surprise considering who was on the other sideline.

Overall a promising opener for a team with a 1st time HC... new coaching staff and a lot of personnel holes.

Wilson needs to be aware of where the defender is and protect himself. Catch that ball and head to the ground immediately. Wilson started looking upfield and was completely unaware of Ramsey until he was hit. The right football play there is to make the catch and get down immediately knowing the defender is right there. These are NFL players, awareness is the difference between good and elite.

I agree with going for it, I just don’t like jamming it up the middle out of the gun with all the receivers close to the LOS.

The offensive playcalling with Braelon needs to be much better. We telegraphed jamming it up the middle every time he was in the game which is why he couldn’t gain any yardage all day with him.

    Fair assessment

That said, Woodrow Johnson, or any member of the Johnson family, if you are reading this: kill yourself

Yeah he wasn’t exactly threading the needle yesterday. The Jets seem to struggle pretty badly with all the crossing routes and blew a lot of coverages.

Like Nagle said, the safeties were really bad yesterday too.

There was no time to catch it and head to the ground. The ball floated to him allowing Ramsey to time it perfectly

the idea of BECOMING a "smashmouth" type team isn't a terrible one. but you have to DEVELOP INTO that. you cant just go out and pretend you ARE THE THING. it contributed greatly to the loss.

They poison babies and haven't done shit for this team for 30 years.
Yet this team makes them billons and provides no enjoyment for the fans.
There is no justice in the world.
If Woodrow offed himself, then perhaps I would have some hope for the world

    - The offense seems better than expected
    - The defense seems worse than expected

The team can probably win some games if they rely heavily on the run, but stopping the run is going to be a problem and it seems the back end of the secondary will be as well.
