Nothing fancy. What did game 1 make you think about after the game? Here are my takeaways in no particular order: 1) Offense was a nice surprise and defense was a bad surprise. Offense overdelivered and defense severely underwhelmed, 2) Losing another game after having the lead in 4th quarter sucked. We need to learn to close out games. 3) Liked we were in it until the end, disliked we lost it in the last seconds. 4) Not sure why but I feel like a turnaround is not going to take years. I feel like starting next year we will play meaningful games. 5) Can we cut Gipson already? 6) Seeing Rodgers score 4 TD on us stinged. Fuck him.
Yes the offense was the only surprise and looks like we have a offensive coordinator who can actually call a game, however with this pathetic receiving core don’t expect to score 30 plus points every game, and you gotta question if Justin fields will hold up all season when he is running 12 plus times a game as he has already dislocated a toe this season and has had Injury issues in the past.
The team as a whole played with a lot of fire and was very physical. There were execution issues all over the place but they weren't giving up on plays and that helped mask some of it. Some of the players were getting a little too absorbed in the trash talking and it took them out of the game at times. The field sucked ass. The refs also sucked ass. Garrett Wilson got pimp slapped by Jalen Ramsey half the game. Is Quinnen Wiiams hurt already? Gipson sod off. Tippmann seems to suck at guard too. The Oline played surprisingly well except for some key foul ups. We knew the corners and receivers were thin and it showed. Offensive play calling barely bothered me all game. Nick Folk looks fat to me.
5) Yes. Yesterday. 6) Watching Sunday night football recap the game and talk about how amazing Rodgers played and how he got his revenge on the Jets. Watching Rodgers trash talk the Jets. Watching another channel and they called Rodgers "The King of New York". I just knew it was going to happen and it hurts more than I thought it would.
Nick Folk did look fat. I'm numb to this team, probably fortunate at this point. But if I enjoy watching them even 75 percent of how much I enjoyed watching them today it's a positive season. I did not have fomo in another activity or fall asleep watching for the first time in many many years. Even their wins have mostly been snoozefests the past few HCs
The Jets never win revenge games. Never. And I really hate the NFL for scheduling this as a week 1 matchup. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
the refs didn’t suck, a lot of calls went in our favor like when the Pitt guy clearly called for a fair catch and our demented special teams guy just runs into him 3 seconds later(more signs this team is undisciplined as salehs team by the way). That was a sure penalty.
im sure woody was meddling again and wanted him gone but I’m sure as in the jets way we will regret it this year when he makes the playoffs in Steelers uniform and has a deep run while the jets are picking top 5 again
I was proud of Justin Fields today. I would have run it back one more time with Rodgers even though I understand the reasons we didn't. But Fields looked very poised and encouraging to me today and would have beated AR straight up (probably) if not for a really tough luck fumble by Gipson. Fields does have some intangible skills that might lead to a couple upset wins this season. If your an underdog you want chaos and he has to athletic ability to occasionally turn bad stuff into chicken salad. Crushing fumble and loss aside I felt like today the glass looked half full.
That's the positive. As much as I have been annoyed they got rid of Rodgers, Fields played a pretty damn good game.
yeah I’m sure woody wanted another “yes men” and a ex jet to sell tickets which this is really all about,he clearly didn’t hire Aaron Glenn because he was a good defensive coordinator and highly sought by other teams because he wasn’t. Ben Johnson was the prize, no one wanted Aaron Glenn besides the dumb jets.
My biggest take away jets were right to move on from Rodgers. He's not terrible by any means but I saw the same issues that plagued him here. Everyone is talking about 4TDs like he's back to MVP level but the jets gave up WIDE OPEN TDs
McCarthy would also tell woody do what I want or I ain’t taking the job , which woody and little woody would never allow, seems like woody thinks he is Jerry jones and knows how to build a winner, 24 years in I highly doubt it.
The biggest takeaway was that the team looked more disciplined, and Glenn does not seem like he's going to let the mistakes go unanswered. I don't think this loss can necessarily be grouped as more of the same 4th quarter losses that we saw last year. Before Bosworth kicked the winning field goal, the defense pinned them near midfield, out of range for a good number of kickers, and a very difficult kick for even the best. This is a big contrast to how the team finished games under Saleh and Ulbrich last year. They usually called prevent when they had leads late in the game, and teams marched all the way down the field with almost no resistance. That wasn't the case here. They played better in this loss than they did in many of their wins over the past 6-7 years. There's still clearly work to do, but I'm feeling a lot more confident in this first game than I did in either Saleh or Gase's first games.
Looks like there's a really good chance after one week we're going to be in first place. Sure, a winless four-way tie for first place but hey when was the last time we were in first place after 2 weeks?
more disciplined is this some sort of joke? Did you not watch the same game? Quincy hitting the guy out of bounds? Gipson muffing a crucial kick return? Idiot special teamer running into the Pitt guy in the 4th quarter 3 seconds after he called for the fair catch which luckily wasn’t called? You call that team discipline and team iq? You know who barely committed any mistakes in the 4th and took the game from us? The Steelers, because they are coached by a real coach with experience not by some rookie who wooed moron woody in a job interview which is very easy to do, I mean this is a man who was impressed by Adam gase.
