Upside... This was the first game of the new CS and the team didn't get blown out. In fact, they were in it until the end unlike last year when it would have been over at halftime. Brandon Stephen's awful play should have gotten him a spot on the bench, but I have a feeling it was his contract that kept him on the field. Not a good look for Glenn and the DC who preach accountability but, in this case didn't apply it. The Offense played exceptionally well, Our OC is showing promise and already is a quantum leap over Downing and Hackett. In time, he'll learn how to utilize his personnel better. With any luck, he'll design plays BEYOND the marker and better 2pt conversion plays if he's gonna be a gambler like his old boss. Draws up the middle at the goal line never work for us. They just don't. Keep in mind we have new HC/OC/DC/STC coaches, new systems on both sides of the ball and a new QB to execute the offense. These things take time to jell and for the Jets to put 32pts on the Steelers wouldn't have happened last year. We're gonna have to live with the growing pains as the year goes on. Happens with teams implementing new coaching and systems. Might even take several seasons. The Lions were mediocre until they finally got it and then BAM, they stormed on to the NFL landscape like an earthquake. Our CS will get better at time management and they will get better at situational awareness. For a first game, I'll take it. Who here expected this level of play today? Let me answer that for you.. NOBODY! So quit bitchin about the loss as none of us expected a win. We're in game one of a 17 game season. Relax and enjoy. By the way, Aaron Rodgers no longer is the QB of the NYJs. Get over it and move on.
Besides the Offensive Coordinator the whole coaching staff including Glenn look like they stink and a rinse and repeat of last year. The defense the only good spot last 2 years before Ulbrich took over as coach look like they beyond stink.
I hate that Jet fans are once again spewing well atleast this atleast that, close game if this didn't happen if that didn't happen we win this. Fact of the matter is Aaron Glenn was brought in here to be a change from Saleh, bring a winning mentality to the Jets and to be a winner. And so far first game he showed he is over his head, he is the same as Saleh if not worse, and the Jets did a total choke job same as previous regimes. He better get this pathetic defense fixed for game 2 cause Allen will carve them up. Imagine what Rodgers did today but with a mobile quarterback.
Not sure what you guys expected, but whatever it was, it was far too early in the season. I'm amazed the Jets were in this game at all. Most of us expected a loss, but I would bet real money NOBODY expected a competitive game. This in itself is a radical departure. Not trying to convince the Rodgers Cult though as they'll never forgive the Jets for moving on. All you Rodgers Cultists SOJF fans are in for a long year. Do us all a favor and if you're gonna whine, bitch and moan all year long, let us know in advance so we can give you your own threads. The rest of us would much rather enjoy watching the games win or lose.
Yeah if go 2-15 this year and lose the 15 games by 3 points or less because of stupid Jet way blunders it will make it worse not better. Who cares how much we lose by even though todays game was entertaining a loss is a loss and no playoffs still is no playoffs.
It’s going to take time to change and ultimately cycle through some of these losers. Like Quincy Williams, he’s not a bad player, but he’s a loser. You don’t tackle a guy out of bounds like that. He could play great all day but then the loser stuff slides in. And he’s not the only one
Quncy atleast hustles every play something we need, can't say the rest about all the bums on defense including Sauce, Quincy is the least of our problems. The defense besides Mcdonald and Quinnen looked pathetic and totally unprepared today. There is no reason why Aaaron Rodgers looked like Joe Montana today besides the Jets defense being totally unprepared today.
We're not going 2-15 so just quit whining. Even if we do, we'll be in position to draft our FQB so its not the end of the world. You seem to forget just how bad this team was last year. I saw a much improved version today even in defeat over the clowns Saleh marched out there.
Sorry Cman. No moral victories. We blew six games with a 4th quarter lead last year and started all over again. We blew two leads in the 4th quarter today. The defense was absolutely atrocious. The worst part was that scumbag Aaron Rodgers threw four touchdowns against us and made our secondary look like Swiss cheese. After the game he said, "I was happy to beat everybody associated with the Jets." Until we learn to win, it's SOJ. I expect we look a lot worse next week and get throttled by Buffalo.
Exactly. The defense struggled against a very mediocre Pittsburgh team. Buffalo will be a different, much tougher challenge.
Also add in the fact that some of these QBs very well may opt to stay in college for the NIL money than come to a team that is notorious for ruining QB careers before they even really get started.
As I said in the other thread, I saw improvement. One other poster said it very pointedly, "I'm glad they didn't do what was expected and embarrass themselves." Outside of that, what really can you take away from game 1 of a "new everything" regime? You can't compare to the Saleh era because everyone is new. It's apples & oranges. Yeah, they lost. Difference is, I don't feel like I have to wear a paper bag over my head. Tell you who I DON'T feel like is a DOLPHINS fan! THAT is what is usually reserved for we Jets fans and I, for one, am glad, for a change, it's somebody else's fans.
Hard to say but, I would like to think Mougey and Glenn can figure out what a future QB should look like. If they can manage to turn JF into a serviceable QB, that alone would give me hope they know what they're doing.
Sorry but I don't think I trust a guy who just gave 36 million to Brandon Stephens in drafting our next franchise Quarterback and hitting on him, Sorry.
Nobody expected the Jets to even be IN the game at that point. The DC will learn from this and play less zone, and less Stephens.
