@Sundayjack @BrowningNagle @Jonathan_Vilma What college games do you recommend I watch for some of the QB's being discussed. Please help a brother out. FYI - Watching Archie at the Ohio State-Texas game for the first time. I know he is not expected to come out but so far he doesn't look anything special. Of course I know the circumstances. His first away game start against a top opponent. Don't expect him look like world beaters.
LSU/Clemson would be the obvious one tonight. Nussmeier vs. Klubnick. I don’t really care what Arch’s output looks like as I expected it to be bad on the road in this game. But his arm looks dead. Reminds me to Chad’s arm post-injury.
Watching Indiana now and I don’t love Mendoza’s throwing motion. It’s a weird 3/4 that looks like he’s all arm and his body/lower half have no impact on it. I think that generally leads to inaccuracy since you normally want to align your body with where you’re throwing. Only a handful of throw in so we’ll see.
Getting this in a couple years early - you’ll see some of my favorite QB in all of college football this afternoon. Ryan Puglisi, the UGA backup. Northeast kid. Rave reviews, but probably needs an injury or a transfer to start.
I’ve flipped to that game a dozen friggin times during commercial and STILL haven’t seen a Mendoza throw. What I did hear was a comment how he had only hit one of his last five throws - right before he ran it in for a TD.
Not a great start either way. But no QB really shined today. The little I saw of Allar was at least pretty steady. Still plenty of football left.
If you were analyzing today for #1 pick you probably would’ve puked up your chicken salad. But this is college football. Most college offenses are going to be miles behind on opening day. 3,600+ players entered the transfer portal this past offseason. Good luck trying to establish any rhythm.
I only know what I got from news reports and box score - no way I was curious enough to stay up for it. Sounds like Nico was Nico - minus half a Joey Aguilar - and the 2024 Utes waited a year to show up for the Big12. Also, there must be some Nico-drunk football writer that followed him out west. Whoever he or she is needs to retire the line, “Nico showed greatness in flashes.” It’s been beaten to death. 11-22, 136 yds, 1 INT and 1 TD that hardly looks like one of those flashes.
Yeah, when the QB story so far is Tommy Castellanos, it can’t be a good weekend for 2026 draft planning. Side note - am I crazy, or didn’t he insist on being called Thomas Castellanos at BC? He moves to FSU and suddenly he’s Tommy? All hope is not lost. Still up on the docket: 3pm VATech-South Carolina - LaNorris Sellers 7:30pm ND-Miami - Carson Beck. Or CJ Carr, if you’re jumping ahead to 2027-28. Mon 8pm - TCU-UNC - Josh Hoover. Kind of gets overlooked but puts up yards in the Sonny Dykes system and will be some team’s middle-round pick. Also, I’m really interested to see what Gio Lopez looks like. Never seen him play, and I doubt he’s on anyone’s draft board. But he gave Todd McShay goo-goo eyes at the Manning thing (that Arch apparently slept through). Also impressed during camp and picked up the nickname “Magic”. Although, NIL marketing now makes any college nickname dubious. I’ll believe it when I see it - twice.
