Misread it. He was shocked that he was claimed not upset. But let’s get real. Anyone making $46k weekly no matter where he plays that’s going from the Chiefs to the Jets is upset.

Eric Watts back to the PS too.

Brady Cook seems worth developing. From what I've seen and read, sounds like the type who has potential to become a good backup

None of the three receivers we cut are in the locker room today. Two receivers that they are better than are in the locker room today.

Im not sure how many spots are on a practice squad. And to that end how many openings are left for the Jets?

I don’t really get the point in keeping Gipson. Not that I’m that upset with him over the other two smurfs they cut but I just don’t see how he has any upside compared to Pritchett or the other guy.

I’m no Lazard apologist but I get why he’s on the roster. You can’t leave Fields with Garrett Wilson and then a bunch of guys who have like 9 career starts. And as much of a bum as I think Lazard is, I don’t think he’s quite as bad as he showed last year.

"Former Colts TE Jelani Woods claimed on waivers by the Jets."

Not a bad example there :)

We just got better at TE!!! Wonder who the casualty is, but hopefully Ruckert.

the Chiefs cut him. So making $46K weekly with the Chiefs was not an option.

Yeah, but regardless of those bottom guys, our WR room I think is one of, if not THE, worst in the league. Our WR2 is going to be one of Reynolds, Lazard, or Johnson…not very inspiring at all. Arian Smith has speed but not the best hands.

So regardless of if we kept Gipson, or Pritchett or B. Smith, this is still one of the worst groups in the league.

The only way it gets better is maybe a guy like the TB receiver who was waived coming on board, or maybe a trade, but while I agree in not understanding why Gipson made it over guys who looked to have done better in preseason and camp, I’m also not really giving it too much impact…either way the room still sucks outside of GW.

“Glenn raved about the way Xavier Gipson handled punt return duties throughout the summer and preseason. Says Jamaal Pritchett did a lot of great things, but the #Jets have a lot of confidence in Gipson, especially how he handles punts and when he gets into open space on returns.”

    Baffling.

What else to do you call the guys whom not a single team (not just the Jets) wanted on the main roster and are PS level or below? They are certainly more talented than 99% of people, but by NFL standards yes, as harsh as it is, they are scrubs. We have a very weak WR room and these who didn't make it there, were unlikely to break other WR rooms. And they didn't.

Give it a few years. He'll be public enemy number 1, like all the GMs before him.

It's actually less with AG and Mooge. Usually there are a few guys who are head scratchers. In this case Gipson is really the only one.

How is he way ahead of Douglas already, when he hasn't really done anything we can judge yet? Has he drafted multiple pro bowlers yet? Has he won games yet? Isn't the oline (arguably the biggest strength on the team) 90% from Joe Douglas?

Your original statement was just to arise anger from fans.

What has Mooooogey done that you disagree with so far?

Draft picks can't be evaluated this early but by all accounts, the first 4 picks look like eventual starters (2 are already starters).

He locked up our best 2 players to GREAT extentions. Add in Sherwoods extention as well.

Recognized his mistake in not addressing DT and brought in capable replacents (actually an upgrade over last season).

Didn't over spend or panic on anything.

Yes. The WR room is light. I think r all would agree on that. But it's year one.

It's really not. We have seen Gipson return what 2 kicks in preseason? AG saw a lot more in practice, maybe he improved a bit. And now the other scrubs are back too, because no one else wanted them ether on main roster. No surprise there, exactly what I said. And if Gipson sucks, Pritchett will get his shot. We'll see. It was not a major thing to begin with, slight shuffle of the bottom of the weakest room in NFL. Six of one, half a dozen of another.

It’s insane to me how you proclaim things with such conviction. This roster full of scrubs should win games but we shouldn’t care about scrubs being cut.

Gipson has as many fumbles as he does 20+ yard returns. He missed a bunch of camp. He was unimpressive in games. Reporters had Pritchett as the better returner. This team fucks up most things we do and looking at day 3 of this years draft and how most of those guys have been non existent, it’s not out of the question this regime fucks things up too. I also don’t know why you’re pretending this is make or break. No one has ever said that. PR is a starting position, this isn’t just a shuffling of the WR room. You want this team to win yet you’re fine with them choosing a bad player at a starting position.
