Marques Hayes makes it? I thought they coulda moved Carter Warren in a trade but guess not. McGregor did make it
I agree. Pritchett flashed some awesome jukes and moves can get alot of yards after a catch …. I don’t understand that move. I find it hard to believe one muff would get him cut. Hopefully he isn’t claimed and makes it onto the practice squad
Yeah their decisions at WR don't make sense to me and that's the biggest surprise. What has Gipson done at all to make the team? That said I'd also be surprised if many/any of Skinner, Brandon Smith or Jamaal Pritchett got claimed. I also think Gipson will end up cut and replaced with a waiver claim
Agree completely. I think there might be better options still thru the waiver process. Probably two if not all three of the above will be back in the practice squad. TE might be upgraded thru the waiver wire as well as the Gibson position. Moving Gibson and Ruckert to practice squad. Be on the look out for a potential pass rusher. Further down the road, I would not be surprised if we trade Lazard after this week to the Steelers for a late round pick. It seems almost preplanned.
Beck the Neck made it! Seriously though, that is one long neck! https://www.newyorkjets.com/team/players-roster/andrew-beck/
I doubt either Gipson or Ruckert are moved to the PS - they would just be cut. Edwards, Skinner, and Pritchett would be good PS candidates if still available.
The Team now will assemble a practice squad. So most of the speculation over the last month was just a way for pundits to fill space before the season. Why there has been so much written about Malachi Corley is beyond me? Young players get cut all the time especially when they were drafted by a previous regime.
I seen Michael Gallup was cut, he is better than 2 to 3 of the wideouts that made the team. I will probably be alone in this thought but I would rather keep Edward's over Davis
Exactly they all suck. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. We all know we are weak at WR behind GW, and on a weak room whether WR #6 is slightly better than WR #5 and should have been kept, or the other way around, doesn't really matter all that much.
I hope someone shakes off from another team's roster to replace these guys. There has to be someone better who was waived, especially at TE.
Well, they released Cook so now we got JF and TT. I'm sure there's a solid QB plan in place already since this CS is prepared for this.. If not, who here is confident that JF and TT can make it thru 17 games given the Jets' history with QB's??
I know I said it yesterday but a young team that’s in rebuild mode passing on three talented young receivers, one of them being a return man, in favor of Allen Lazard and a guy who has been a below average receiver and returner for two years now is extremely baffling.
Tyrod Taylor is a solid backup, but always hurt. Trask is a very good processor and brings something the Jets don't have (someone who has experience, is still just 27 and can quickly go through progressions). Devito is honestly physically better than Brady Cook and mentally seems to be on par. I think he's an upgrade. Cam Miller is the other guy the Jets could look at. They were very interested pre-draft in him. He's more talented than Cook. The Raiders are hoping he clears waivers. With that, Cook has shown some intangibles and more progression than anyone thought he could, so maybe just stick with him to see how he develops and draft your QB next year when/if Fields fails.
It’s honestly not that shocking that Edwards didn’t make the roster as much as most of us wanted him to. The running back room is extremely talented and the two guys that made it over him are better than him at blocking (Beck) and returns (not even going to attempt to spell his name). What I need to know is how Gibson made the roster over Pritchett. It’s not like the guy had one good preseason game, he was standing out in camp as a receiver and a return man. Meanwhile Gipson has been bad for two years and was barely mentioned during camp.
