It also means that if you take Warren the second round pick WILL be an OT, but might be difficult get a starting second WR later. If you take Membou the second round pick could be a variety of different positions but probably a WR, with a TE taken in later rounds. So it comes down to do you want a starting TE, starting OT, and developmental WR OR a starting OT, starting number two WR, and developmental TE? Decision probably depends on what position you feel like you can fill after the draft.
My preference is for Membou at 7. Projection, need and value aligns perfectly with the gaping hole at RT. Jets OL looks good on paper, but there are still questions. I think we're all optimistic about Olu at LT, but he hasn't reached that high level yet. Simpson and AVT are free agents next year and I think there are some mixed feeling about Tippman. All that to say, plenty of opportunity to solidify the OL. Then I'd love to see them target Mason Taylor or even Elijah Arroyo in the 2nd. Depends on value of course, but IMO offense should be the priority early on.
Who’s the starting #2 WR you think would be available in round 2? Hunter, McMillan, Golden, Burden, and Egbuka will all be gone. If we don’t draft a WR in the 1st round then we’re getting someone who will need time. The only way to get a WR in the first round is to trade down. McMillen likely killed his chances of being drafted by us since his comments about not loving football and not watching tape. Golden and Burden are nice, but they’re not gonna be top 10 receivers in the NFL imo. You’re better off taking a guy like Jalen Royals or Elic Ayomanor sometime in the 4th/5th round if they’re still around.

I think we need to remember that if Warren is drifted number one, the number two wide receiver will likely the fourth receiving option, with Wilson, Warren, and Hall being the prime targets. More to the point, it will be important to acquire a good blocking tight end to support what is likely to be a rush heavy offense. So that might possibly be Warren, but it’s doubtful that another rookie tight end will match the combination of receiving and blocking that Warren offers (not that Warren is a terrific blocker, by the way). So I think if the Jets go for a combination of OT and WR for the top two picks, any tight end they subsequently pick is likely to be more advanced as a receiver than blocker. So it would be wise for the running game to draft a second tight end who may not be much of a receiving threat but who offers decent run and (preferably) pass blocking. This would be particularly needed because our current TE’s are not good blockers.
I dont think it's going to be Membou. We will see if I'm right but I dont think they want a pigeon holed RT like that I believe they want Josh Conerly Jr. instead at tackle in the 2nd round. Look at the Lions their linemen pull and move in space. That's Conerly's game. I dont believe the Jets worry about transitioning him to right tackle, again look at the Lions with Penei Sewell Also the Jets brought in Conerly for a visit and not Membou -- First round choosing between: Warren (TE), Graham (DL), Stewart (Edge) Second round choosing between: Conerly (OT), Ersery (OT), Kyle Williams (WR), Ferguson (TE)

Since there is now speculation that both the Browns and Giants are fielding calls about picks 2 and 3 (of course they are), just want to throw a hypothetical question out there, what would you personally give up with 7 for Hunter or Carter?
Nothing. We have Sauce Gardner and we just drafted a tweener edge in McDonalfd, would be crazy imo. MEmbou is our pick but part of me thinks they been so coy on Warren, maybe he's it? Either way obviously one of those two.

Bond seems to be dropping into round 4 or 5, obviously has a bit of a gob on him but he may well be a steal in one of those lower rounds, if he keeps falling. Other teams seem to pluck talent out of rounds 3-5 this is where we need to vastly improve, along with rounds 1 and 2 and 6 lol
This is probably a more realistic prediction. I would add than Loveland is also in the first group. Many here have fallen in love with either Membou or Warren, and ready to dismiss other options, but I believe the new leadership is looking at it in a much deeper way. Steward is definitively in the mix. After the first 5 picks, the unicorns are off the board, and it becomes a toss with very good to excellent starters in many positions. The trend will continue deep into the third round.

Now, Todd McShea, who is connected to a lot of people, is suggesting the Jets will more likely pick a defensive players, like Barron or Mykel specifically. Graham could be in play. He doesn't think Stewart will be the guy. Warren is in play, they like him, but doesn't feel like he will be the guy either. And Todd is very connected. Dick Chimney thinks it will be Membou, Graham, Warren, or Banks. That is what I think as well. Someone will be right. And your guess of Stewart is as good as any. But what that tells me is no one knows shit. The leaks have stopped. Now people are just guessing, it's a smoke season. Here are the current odds: Membou +150 Warren +370 Banks +425 Barron +650 Graham +700 Walker +800 Now, if this is Barron or Walker I will probably lose it. We already invested in DBs and have a smaller Edge in McD. That's just poor roster building. You could make a case for Stewart, but we do have 2 Edge players 1st round picks. And I get it, JJ may take time to get back, but we still have him. Maybe McD can finally gain some weight and play more. Compared to other positions, DE is not as big a need to spend a premier top 7 asset, and Stewart is not exactly a slam dunk. Stewart is an athletic freak, but only generated 12% pressure rate in College and only 1.5 sacks. Maybe they will take a chance at him, but he would not be my choice. For me, it still comes down to Graham, Membou, and Warren. Maybe Banks if we want OL and Membou is gone. These guys are top College players and would be starters at the positions of major need, where they are head and shoulders above replacement.
I just don’t think they will view Membou as the right fit. Could be wrong though Myself I’m not gonna lose it no matter who they take. It’s year 1, they are trying to build something that’s theirs, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. It was different with Douglas on his 5th draft blowing picks
