I guess it's expected he won't re-sign because articles talk about Jets TEs as if Conklin won't be on the team next season.
Another reason why the jets can't trade up in the draft. Trade down--they got tons on holes. Throw a dart at the map!
A team trading up into the top 10 is generally only doing that for a QB, so I guess for the Jets to trade down from 7, you'd need Ward or Dion's kid to drop. And ironically, Jets need a QB too.
Speaking of TEs, starting to hear rumors that Jets would be interested in signing Mike Gesicki if he becomes available. That would be a great move.
Oh. yeah. In the 1990 draft the seahawks traded the 10th and 12th overall to move up to 3rd overall to take DL Cortez Kennedy. They offered the jets the same trade for the 2nd pick overall but jets GM Steinberg turned it down and drafted RB Blair Thomas. And, by the way, RB Emmitt Smith was taken by the Cowboys that year at 17 overall, so the jets could have gotten Smith at either 10 or 12 if they had accepted that trade down.
OMG @tombed, you have reminded me of how insanely sorry our GMs have been over the years. mark this one as another major blunder by the Jets.
Well we also passed on Jerry Rice to take Al Toon, but that doesn’t sting me as much because (a) Toon was a very good player, and (b) we all know Rice would not have been the Rice we know had he gone to the Jets… But yeah, the list of clown show incompetent GMs of the Jets is a list almost as long as the clown show incompetent HCs of the Jets
