I feel like this isn't the greatest year ever to have a top 10 pick in the NFL draft. Which is just classic Jets fortune. I also wonder if we've chopped Rodgers, Adams and Lazard off the future plans if the Jets might be looking hard at some of the WRs with their 2nd pick. Maybe this will be best long term, especially financially, but in the short term I feel like the offense is a little short on manpower all of a sudden.
im hoping we can get something for Adams. A trade to the west coast, where he can restructure his contract for them and we get back some resources. I don’t think that’s too hopeful Lazard yeah. He’s not getting trade offers lol Every year good wideouts come into the league. I think we need someone with more strength than Wilson to make the tough catches over the middle
I don't see the draft as the answer this year (but you never know) but the Jets have GOT to get a QB - you look at the bottom 4 teams in the power rankings (jets, browns, giants, titans) and the #1 issue for all of them is they don't have a good QB
Do we not class Ken has being drafted and developed, I mean he only has the small total of 25k throwing yards to his name. If I had that fantastic book to hand I could tell you all of his stats in an instance but yeah. We drafted him and I'd say developed him. So to say we have NEVER done so is wrong imo
I think the obvious answer for Adams is to wait until Rodgers signs somewhere because you know they will be calling.
Just because there isn't a QB for the Jets doesn't mean this is not plenty of talent in other needed positions.
This draft is loaded with talent. The problem is that talent is not at QB. If by the grace of God Mason Graham falls to us he is our best option to trade out of 7 and amass more picks. The late 1st/early 2nd round is loaded with great talent at OT, G, CB, WR, couple good TE’s, and LB’s. It’s loaded. My hope is we trade down somehow and net a 1st from next year’s draft and hopefully a 3rd in this year’s draft.
Because I’m a glutton for punishment and think good fortune is just around the corner, I want to remind people of what they probably already know. This years SB quarterbacks were both drafted later than 7 We should take BPA (trading up or down if it makes sense). I am 100% on board with taking a QB ( and heavily biased toward them sitting a year). a lot of people want the first QB chosen but honestly it seems like all of the good QBs (other than Burrows) were not the first
We have $30m reasons to get him off our books by June 1st, and I can’t see a team taking on that contract. If we cut him he’s gonna sign a new contract. I don’t see a team trading a pick to us for the opportunity to pay him $38m this year, so he’d have to be amenable to a renegotiation and even then I just don’t see it. He’s old and his production has been declining, though still respectable. I think wherever he goes that team will be willing to wait it out and look to start a new contract entirely vs trying to finagle his current one into something manageable.
Unless the Jets trade up to the top 2 they are NOT taking a QB with their first round pick. Maybe they can get Dart in round 2/3? I dunno. I have no confidence in this team at all to do the rigth thing, whatever it might be.
Yeah.. I understand that. However. They don't have to waste a high pick on a prospect. I'd still shoot my shot at a few guys in this upcoming draft. In later rounds. Will Howard OSU Riley Leonard ND Quinn Ewers Texas Jaxson Dart Ole MIss Jalen Minroe Alabama I think all these guys have "potential" with proper development, who knows? In later rounds, I just can't justify not taking a flyer on somebody. IF they don't have a solid plan in place already for the future.
Ewers and Milroe are dogshit. I can't see any amount of developing turning them into high caliber NFL QBs. Also we have 0 track record of being able to do that, double whammy. Will Howard has the OSU thing working against him... I know you're an OSU guy but you can't find me the last successful NFL QB to come out of OSU. Dart and Leonard are very intriguing, as is McCord. We're gonna have to pick them earlier than we probably want to though.
I don’t think Leonard is an NFL QB. Hell of college QB and leader though. He will be successful in life
I wouldn't be shocked if he was awesome, wouldn't be shocked if he was god awful. There are some physical and mental traits you love but not sure how it all comes together on a pro level.
I am all out on Milroe, lukewarm on Ewers. Would not be excited about either of them being the solution. I like the idea of Dart in the 2nd. I can name one successful OSU QB - Does CJ Stroud count??
In my head I typed "outside of Stroud who is the outlier and Burrow who is LSU" but I did not. Fields, Pryor, Haskins, Braxton Miller, Cardale Jones, JT Barrett...
I'm not advocating for any of them but I'm just pointing out that taking a flyer on one of them, can't hurt. IMO As far as OSU. I don't care what program they come from, if they can play, take a shot. I do still have hope for Fields and Stroud. Burrow isn't really tied to OSU. He was a buckeye at one point though. Same for Ewers. Who was a 5 star recruit coming out of HS. They aren't NYJ though, so It's not pivotal for me either way. I do wish them success just from a "good guy" standpoint I suppose.
