Like I said earlier, I like Rodgers as a player and person. When you’re in the final seasons of football on a new team you go all in for that team. Going to Egypt was a bad choice and a bad look, and it clearly had some effect on our overall preparedness.

Dates me, but this reminds me of A-Rod leaking that he would opt out of his Yankees contract during the World Series. Next year MLB passed a rule saying no major announcements - team or player - during the WS.

Problem is when you say it in those words, it's basically back to pre-2020 Jets. Bad QB play, here we come... (again)

I know highlight films only supposed to show the good, but Travis looked pretty good when he was healthy. What's the deal on that ankle? I can't be another Mitchell Robinson situation I hope.

If it were me? I would have attended all the practices. But that doesn't change the fact that Mike Williams ran the route wrong.

I could see Tyrod Taylor (and a Mason Rudolph type signing backup) leading us to 7 wins this season. Basically a S.O.J. season

It was the worst outcome you can get for AR. Injury out for the season and didn’t make the playoffs in 2 season. Need a whole lot of help and work.

Quinnen Williams already tweeting (btw his twitter is already down lol) how he doesn’t like this. Don’t get me wrong, Q has gave it his all here but his attitude and lack of leadership hurts. Wether he likes it or not, he’s (the highest paid) Jet defender, he should just focus on what he can control.

not saying dumo him but glad Glenn can get a hold of guys like this and Becton.

Knowing how inapt the Jets are he will probally go to Minnesota and win a superbowl. Still time to move on from Joe Douglase's massive mistakes.

So, you are already predicting that this leadership will have the same ending. OK, I Certainly hope not. But if that is your feeling, no matter who was selected you would have solicited the same response. Sounds like, forget this team….nothing will ever change. Got it. If that is your opinion, I’m assuming you would agree keeping AR would have been nothing but a further waste of good money.

If Rodgers returned then pressure would be on the Glenn to win in year one. Now instead he wont have any pressure and is punting on the 2025 season.

A complete loser mentality and red flag for Glenn right off the start that he doesnt want to choose the pressure situation and would rather give a season up.

Glenn would rather set the expectations low off the start then set the expectations high. Same old Jets. Complete disaster of an offseason hiring this guy. Cant wait to search for a new head coach in 3-4 years.

Not really sure how I feel about letting him go

On the plus side, I do get the financials and the fact that a new coaching staff would have a hard time trying to implement their program with an established guy like AR around…hard to imagine he’d be fine with a whole new system for the last year or two he has left, and I get Glenn needing to be The Guy now, and that would be hard with a QB like AR, who has the credentials and the strong personality to run the show. It’s awkward to say the least. So there are good reasons to cut ties now.

On the other hand, our QB has been SO shitty, and he was clearly a diminished AR but STILL the best QB play we’ve had in like a decade…crazy but true. And man, I’m getting too old to keep buying into these continued “tear down and rebuild the right way” storylines. We JUST DID THAT with JD and Saleh…what did it get us? More losing. And now we have to do the same shit AGAIN. With unproven HC and GM AGAIN. Forgive me if I’m skeptical.

We now have NO answer at QB. None. Tyrod is old and injury prone and not as good as AR anyway. He’s not an answer, even as a stopgap he likely plays less than half a season. We have an unproven 5th round QB coming off serious injury. That’s it. There are not great free agent options out there…maybe a trade option with someone like Kirk Cousins or Justin Fields? Nothing exciting there. Maybe Carr frees up? Again, he may be the best option of those but not a great option regardless. No real answers in the draft from all I’m reading.

So we are looking at a throwaway wasted season AGAIN.

I’m getting too old for this shit…

2026 you say? Well I suppose it'll fit perfect with our favorite mantra , "maybe next year"!

Regardless where ever he goes, and what may or may not happen, it still won't be as miserable as his time with the Jets

Carr to me would be a great option. The guy is so underrated. Everyone blames him that he can't win in spite of good stats. We just saw what his team did without him: 0-7!!! With him 5-5. That is a massive difference. A difference between a play-off contender and a historically bad team - because of 1 guy. Which is why I think he will not be available. NO is getting Kellen Moore as a HC. The guy I wanted along with Halaby as a GM - to basically try to replicate Philly model instead of Detroit. And I think Moore realizes the value a good QB like Carr can bring. If not I would love to get Carr, but most likely it will turn out to be a moot point.

Cousins I think will be available as Atlanta has incentive to waive him, very similar to Denver and Russ. And Cousins might be available for cheap as Atlanta would be paying his salary. And on a cheap deal, I would certainly take him. So, there is Cousins who is turning 37, there is Fields turning 26, and then Tyrod/Travis combo with may be a second round pick to boot. Other options are even worse. The way I see it, Fields is still the way to go. And I understand the limitation, but there is some upside there. If we get him and he pulls Sam like comeback, we have a young QB for years to come. And if not, yes that means we are likely not making play-offs, but next year it really helps to have a good draft pick. So this way for 2026 we either have Fields who is young or a decent pick next year to try to pick a FQB.

That to me is much better than running with an old QB, like Cousins. If he does decent, anyway he is not a long term solution, and we end up with a worse draft pick to get a FQB. Fields is a much better option in that if he actually does well there is some upside there, unlike Cousins or other older journeymen.
