Wasn't a very good HC, but he's a good guy.... hopefully the SF defense plays with all gas and some brakes...

Wish him well. He was in over his head with slogans and running a loose ship as a head coach but he was a good guy. Good luck to him.

I wonder if he'll return to his former 49ers version of raging like a crazied lunatic after every defensive stop or continue to blankly stare into the empty void on game day he learned from the Jets?

That was his biggest error. He ran a loose ship. He probably realized it was a mistake but it was to late. People would call his bluff if his personality changed abruptly. Hopefully he learns if he ever gets another shot.

I'm gonna guess they will flip him for 2 more third round draft picks in a season or two.

If he gets a chance to be a HC again, I expect him to do much better to be honest.

I thought we were getting a jacked-up version of Rex. Obviously only the fat version works....

i wonder if saleh will ever let everyone know that woody fired him for wearing a lebanese flag on his "uniform" in the europe game. im convinced that was the reason, nothing else makes sense to me for it to happen at that juncture.

Are you saying that keeping a guy at 20 - 36 would have made sense?

I think you are right too. I doubt Saleh will ever say anything though, he turned into someone who doesn't say what he wants to say anymore

The purpose was to get rid of the guy who had been failing at everything but sloganeering since his arrival; that was already past due (it's a Jets thing). Somebody needed to be designated as placeholder, hence the "interim" designation. I doubt very much that there was any realistic expectation that Ulbrich was leading anyone to the promised land.

then Woody made a mistake. If he thought Ulbrich would suck worse he shouldn’t made the move.

I don’t think the move was well-thought out and likely motivated by the Lebanese flag too. He was angry about the losing and the politics and made a rash decision.

It could be that he was mad at himself for not pulling the plug the year before and felt that the way things had started there was no reason not to kick the garbage can over - remember the play on the field looked worse than the scoreboard those first five games. I have no reason to think the political slant was or was not a factor - I see it as a red herring..

more sense than firing him when they did for little to no reason and completely shitting themselves for the entire season. he wasnt good. but he was good enough to finish the year. there is something very fishy about that firing.
