I saw we hired A Glenn and vomited I saw the posted clip : a fireside chat he had with other players and now I decided to take some Alka Seltzer heh All this is out of my control ...and just numb to this all. Who cares anymore
From Glenn’s statement “To our players, prepare to be coached with everything we have. That is our responsibility. I ask that we share the same vision and that's working towards winning a championship. To our fans, simply put, expect a winning team that you will be proud of."
Not to be too much of a downer but after consuming a lot of NFL content today - podcasts, tweets, articles, reports - it's become quite clear that Glenn was one of the few people who was even open to taking our job. All of the top candidates either outright turned us down or used us as leverage for the job they actually wanted. It's a shame, but this is what happens when you string together 15 years of disastrous hires, draft picks, and drama. Couple that with Woody's lack of foresight resulting in us hiring during a weak class as opposed to a very strong coaching class last year and here we are. I'll reserve final judgement on Glenn for when we're playing games again but it is now abundantly clear that we are simply not a place top candidates go. I will say I'll feel a lot better if we land Caley or Kubiak as OC. But even if we do, and they turn out to be good, we'll be forced to deal with them leaving in a couple years because of our obsession with defensive HCs. There isn't a single person with power in our organization that is capable of thinking more than one step ahead.
It'll all depend on his coordinators. It's not a coincidence that, in 2010, we had the best offensive line coach in the league, the best special teams coach and, in Rex, one of the best defensive minds of his time. That said, bringing back Rodgers is a terrifying thought. It pretty much ends any hope of a decent OC coming here. And it'll end any hope of a running game next year. Our offence will be Aaronball, with Rodgers statline being the priority.
Nope on the contrary if Rodgers comes back next year our dead cap for 2026 is 63 million, that's is like 1/5th of our total salary cap for Rodgers not playing in 2026, Joe Douglas destroyed the cap situation to save his job and still got canned. It would be cheaper to cut ties with Rodgers to save 2026.
Rookie HCs usually get a couple of years to prove themselves before the wolves show up. A retread would be under the microscope immediately, they wouldn't get much of a grace period. Same thing with QBs. Woody sells a shitload of rookie QB jerseys before people realize they suck.
Well, hiring the HC first does imply the triangle Org chart is back. Perhaps the Jets might hire the employee BEFORE hiring his boss. Frankly I wouldn't it that past Woody. All paths lead to Woody so he still will have control over the football operation as the HC and the GM report directly to him but not to each other. What they really need is a VP of football Ops to tie all this shit into a neat bundle. That guy absolutely cannot be a 1st timer so the odds of Woody hiring such a person is zero.
