Woody isn't making the hires, it's an agency doing it. Obviously he's got the final say, but he's not the one picking the candidates. Easy to say "hire someone who has won before" without knowing if they would even come for an interview.
Hiring Mccarthy- you know what your getting Hiring Aaron Glenn- total crapshoot, less than total crapshoot, almost guaranteed to flop(see Woody's past hires)
He took a team that he basically inherited from the previous regime that would have made the playoffs the year before barring injury and progressively made the team worse almost every single year, including on the defensive side. He literally had 1 year where the team record improved and it didn't last.
you didn't answer the question, what is Aaron Glenns accomplishments besides having a continously bad defense and saying the right things(telling woody what he wants to hear)?
You've never seen McCarthy succeed without a FQB. He struggles without a proper QB in place. We do not have a FQB. Our QB situation is very murky at the moment. It would be a crapshoot with him as well.
Connor Hughes tweeted that AG is considering a couple OC candidates already. Nick Caley and Scott Turner.
I'll take my chances with a guy who won over 6 out of 10 games throughtout 18 years and actually developed those franchise qbs over a guy who couldn't even make a defense league average over his coaching career.
Glenn literally has been a hot prospect the last 2 hiring cycles. The Jets got the best possible prospect they could as Vrabel was going to the Patriots and Johnson was going to the Bears. Jets fans should feel happy, but for some reason a few don’t.
How many Super Bowls he win with Dallas? Come on, you are reaching at this point. Let it go. It's a pipe dream for you now.
Superbowls? I would take going to the playoffs 1 time in the next 3 years which it will take Aaron Glenn to be fired by the way, as greater than winning the Superbowl, Forget superbowl, the Jets have not made the playoffs in 14 years something Mike Mccarthy has continously done throughtout his career.
Todd Haley?? What's he been doing the past few years. Hope it's as nothing more than some kind of consultant.
I understand what you are saying but I would caution that people get caught up in the press conference hype - I remember when Saleh got hired. I also remember saying WTF when Gase was dragged out. I have no need to make any decisions until I begin to see what's happening on the field or even at the other desks in the coaches wing. Opening day is still 225 days away.
That may have been premature; the "X" post, I believe from Jason Schultz, that I saw about an hour after the Glenn announcement seems to have disappeared. Having said that, many are reporting Haley as being on Glenn's wish list as well as Brunell. If one is to be the OC and the other the QB coach logic says the guy with experience as an OC and HC would be the coordinator choice and the QB would deal with QBs. A problem with that, however, would be the Lions would need to agree to let Brunell move to the Jets without a promotion.
Good for him! Former players are usually popular with present guys. Gives the Jets an identity to have a former top player on the sidelines.
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. The owner of the Jets will make the hires. The 33rd Team is selecting and screening the candidates because they are better equipped to do so; the decisions on which HC and GM to hire are made by those within the Jets organization.
