Hard to know what’s really going on as none of us were part of those meetings or conversations, but who knows…Glenn not accepting the offer could mean anything:

    1. He wants it but wants to think it over some more
    2. He is using flying back home and the Saints potential as leverage to get a better deal from Woody
    3. The whole Jets thing is a sham and he is just using us to get leverage on the Saints (much like Vrabel did here too)

Whatever the reality is, I guess we’ll know soon enough (maybe a day or two?)…but one thing we DO know…the “substantial” offer we made clearly wasn’t an offer he couldn’t refuse…which is actually fine by me…no need to throw a ridiculous offer out there to a first time HC candidate…

In the end, I think it’s Woody stupidity through and through…the fact that we didn’t push to talk to Ben Johnson (I don’t care if he said he wasn’t interested in back channels…you put in the call and make him deny the interview so it’s clear), the fact that we aren’t talking with McCarthy or Kingsbury or Monken…crazy to me. The fact that we are making an offer to Glenn before even meeting with Joe Brady…just asinine.

I would prefer McCarthy and Kingsbury to Glenn…maybe I’m wrong and Glenn becomes a great HC, but to me, I’d prefer the offensive guy.

And sure, I’ll be rooting for Glenn if he’s the hire, but I won’t be getting my hopes up…I’ll be expecting more of the same…decent defense, middling offense, and no playoffs for a while longer

You ain’t getting past the Bills by holding them down in scoring…you have to outscore them.

It’s not a paywalled site, at least not for me. We offered Glenn an opportunity to sign a substantial contract with us last night. He turned down that opportunity. He might sign it at some point, but it looks like he wants to go talk to NO first. Considering NO is a much better organization with a far less meddlesome owner, good chance he’s gonna sign there. Thank God.

Couldn’t agree with you more. If fans actually depend on his opinion to make decisions they are missing the mark.
AG like it or not, was considered a top candidate by many players and coaches that know a thing or two about the job. May be not our top choice based on history but who knows. If we use the last game as a gauge, with third string CB against the Commanders we are not being fair. Was his D stellar…not really. But how will he be as HC to build a team with discipline and proper execution is yet to be seen. He commands the respect of his players, coaches and peers. That is not easy to achieve.

The fact you don’t want him is neither here nor there. But to comment that we made him a good offer, or a substancial contract, or even implying what actually transpired and why he left for NO, on a commitment he made prior to this meeting, is simply wrong since none of us know two shits as to what really occurred. Starting with Florio.

Love this, thanks! This is what you want in a HC. Authenticity, candor, mentorship, accountability, knowing which lever to pull when—warmth vs hardass. Now the other part of the equation is getting in the right technical guys, i.e. the OC and DC. OC in particular.

you know people put on personas to get jobs right? Robert Saleh was supposed to be authentic and all that good rah rah stuff to till he came here and we saw thru his bullshit. Once again Aaron Glenn had the 20th ranked defense last year, if he couldn't mold his defense into a above average defense what makes people think he is qualified to be a Nfl head coach? I don't care if a coach is a softass, hardass, dick, not authentic , authentic. Give me the coach who has proven he has won in this league before, run a functional offense and developed a quarterback, and that is Mccarthy not Aaron Glenn. We Just had a ex defensive player take over as iterim coach and players spoke highly of him, how did that work out? I mean we have literaly gone thru this experiment many times and not 1 time did it remotely work, why keep doing it expecting different results, when we are going to be using a high pick on a quarterback either this year or next. How do you anticipate a guy who is not even good as a defensive coordinator and knows nothing about offense to develop a franchise qb for us, please tell me this? This is a crucial time in this franchise right now, we are the laughing stock of the sports world., this team has not made the playoffs in 14 fuckn years due to bad coaching hires(basicly throwing darts at a dart board like we are going to do with Aaaron Glenn), and not being able to develop a franchise qb in 3 trys. Why keep trying the same stupid fuckn shit over and over again when you keep failing over and over again?

Two good things about these probable hirings.

    1. From the little I have heard Aaron speak, he does not begin every sentence with “um”.

    2. We are definitely not winning the offseason.
