You are probably right regarding Kingsbury unless he has a desire to be a HC this year for whatever reason. He might see some potential in bringing ARod back for his offence and then draft a developmental qb like Dart to groom under ARod.

Bill O’Brian is an excellent play caller but not an excellent coach. He would need to run a successful offence as a OC before he gets considered for another shot.

I agree with this. Bills just throw a million 3 yard passes and then QB sneak it on 3th or 4th down, that offense doesn’t seem like it will travel well outside of Allen

    Kingsburys offense looks good

I'm done with this team if they hire Glenn.

The only thing that concerns me about Kingsbury is how undisciplined and penalized his teams were in Arizona.

But of course I think he should get an interview at the very least, pretty sad that they haven’t interviewed him

Even then, he had one year of success. Spagnulo is a better defensive coordinator.

He did and kudos to him for that achievement. The Bills definitely can run the rock under Brady but none of that works without a Quarterback like Allen. Brady vs Spags will be a match up worth watching

I think I misunderstood what Woody asked the 33d team to do. I just thought when they said they are hiring GM/Coach, and not just GM, who will then get a coach, it's because some coaches you may want to get 1st, and then bring a GM they like, like Vrabel and Ben Johnson. But for others it would be hire GM 1st, and do some preliminary vetting of coaches, then that GM joins the coaching search and finalizes the coach that he likes. For example you do preliminary HC interviews and then hire Halaby/Borganzi say last Tuesday, he then uses the data at hand to do second interview of the vetted coaches plus maybe some new ones he wants, and hires a coach that way, maybe Joe Brady or Coen or Kingsbury. Not necessarily a KC coach he worked with before.

However, it appears that assumption was wrong. Woody quite literally wanted them to hire a tandem of HC/GM TOGETHER, maybe Vrabel being the lone exception. That is why they couldn't really hire Borganzi, since Nagy and Spaz are still playing, and he went to the Titans who started their GM search late. Other tandems I could see are Grigson/(Flores or McCown), Buffalo assistant and Brady, and maybe there are others where they worked together before or now. Heck, it is possibly they didn't even talk to Brady after they initially requested is because they didn't like the Buffalo executive, so that would rule out Brady as a part of that tandem. It looks like Newmark/Glenn is the leading tandem now and will be signed, unless there is something unforeseen happens.

I just think this tandem approach is less than ideal. Now, that does not mean Newmark/Glenn will suck, this is way too early to tell, and I will root for them, but I would much rather have the best GM earlier, and then have him select the best coach.

Spagnulo is a better coordinator for sure, but we are looking for a head coach

The 33rd team used the Jets to make a bunch of new connections for the future. That's all what these interviews were.

I personally like the hire of a HC first then your GM. This gives a clear message to the GM that he’s there to work for the coach. The tandem hire is a recipe for a power struggle. They would need to be besties for life to decide on personnel and draft picks.

I think it is directive from Woody to get a tandem. Woody kept saying he hired 33d team to get a GM and Coach, and I did not take that literally. I always thought 33d team will help get the best GM 1st (unless it is a Vrabel type) and then GM will play major role with Tanny/Spielman at that point in supporting role to the new GM. However that is not what he said from the beginning, he said 33d team will help hire both and I should have taken him more literally.

This is why I keep saying Woody is not cheap or even meddling like some think, but mostly just dumb as a rock. Instead of getting the best GM, then use him to get best coach, he appears to have asked them to get both at the same time as a tandem. I would think this approach is rather dumb, but hey, thinking is overrated, and I am sure 33d team was happy to oblige.

I’d like Aaron Glenn as Head Coach. Players love him, the rest of the league loves him, and I loved him as a player. I don’t get why some fans are against it. I don’t care that his Lions D was torched by the best rookie QB of all time.

The Lions are good. Campbell, Johnson and Glenn turned that franchise around. Hopefully Glenn can do that with the Jets too.

    - 2024 Mahomes
    - 2023 Mahomes
    - 2022 Stafford
    - 2021 Brady
    - 2020 Mahomes
    - 2019 Brady
    - 2018 Foles
    - 2017 Brady
    - 2016 Manning
    - 2015 Brady

Which average quarterbacks has McCown helped get to such mediocrity?

I can only imagine how much money Woody paid the Tannenbaum group. As much as he paid Korn Ferry to hire Idzik?

Yet somehow their top pick the best they can do is a candidate (Aaron Glenn) no one else around the league wants.

I listened to WFAN on the drive home today they're reporting Glenn is coming back for a second interview today and the Jets "have no intention of letting him leave the building" without hiring him.

Who else wants this guy for a HC job that they're afraid of letting him leave the building without the job?

Woody & the Tannenbaum group really believe hiring Aaron Glenn after that disgraceful performance by the Lions at home as the #1 seed will inspire confidence amongst the fan base? Lost organization.

    Vintage Jets.

It is what it is at least it's finally over. I'll cross my fingers hope Woody once again outsmarted the rest of the NFL.

Would it be a stretch to say that coming off Saturday's performance the Detroit Lions may have fired Aaron Glenn as DC?

That was a firing worthy performance I think. #1 seed at home? That happens.

The Tannenbaum group's top pick for HC of the NYJ. Go figure.
