The head coach matters but so do the coordinators. DC Lou Anarumo was just fired and is a good DC if we hire an offensive head coach. We’ll need a mercenary like that.
Cincy defense mostly stunk aside from 2022. He may actually be a downgrade from Brick. I am thinking Matt Eberfuls could be an option or Jerad Mayo, though someone said he hasn't called plays. There could be others that will shake out soon as well.
Fed up with the nature of college sports and the expectations placed on coaches, more and more decent head coaches are leaving their jobs in the college game to become assistants. Maybe that's why there was that interview with Maryland coach Locksley. Taking a look at him as a potential OC?
Leftwich, maybe, since he has NFL experience. Locksley I have serious concerns about since he has zero pro experience from what I can tell. As a QB coach or second-level assistant I get. As an OC? Pass, for now. Plus how can we interview an OC without a HC? Who would come in to even take that interview? Locksley interview was either a total flyer ("let's see what this guy is like") or a Rooney Rule cheat. Since we're interviewing a bunch of people, we didn't need to cheat the RR, so probably the former.
I’m wouldn’t mind a John Morton reunion. I hear he has a relationship with Glenn. I look at Bo Nix’s numbers and I’m dumbfounded. There’s a lot of coaching in those numbers IMO.
Not sure why Morton got canned in the first place. His offense seemed effective instead of the stale, plodding shit we see on gameday.
Pete Carmichael as well with the Broncos. He’s been Sean Payton’s right hand for almost two decades. Not sure why he’s never gotten a look anywhere as a HC.
