His contract is up at the end of next year and he and MIN have yet to talk extension. He’s technically going into a “lame duck” season. His reps are probably putting trade rumors out to set up a big pay day from MIN.
I know no one will ever believe me but I always felt he would end of being a good coach, definitely a good OC.
Keep gutting those draft picks. That strategy has worked well for this shit franchise. No way Minny is getting rid of him after a 14-3 season. No chance.
Here is the thing, all speculations you hear about the Jets coach favorites, GM favorites, etc, is complete BS. I just listened to Connor Hughes interview. He gave some of his opinions, which you can listen to, but he said something that's interesting and I believe factual: no leaks are coming from the Jets building on this search at all. Andhe would know about that, he does have a lot of sources. There are 5 people involved in the decision making process: Woody, Chris, Hymie, Tanny, and Spielman. None of them are leaking shit. All the "sources" you hear know nothing about the discussions the Jets are having, who is the favorite, who will be the coach, etc... Everything that has to do with the decision making process of the Jets. None of it is coming from the Jets. Even the fact they went after Vrabel, that was probably leaked by Vrabel's side after the fact, i.e. irrelevant to whom we will actually hire. So, I do not believe Aaron Glenn is favorite, Flores #2, certain GM is the favorite, etc... I mean people can make a wild ass guess, and it could be correct - after all Glenn and Flores do fit Woody's prototypical coaching selected, but no one has a slightest idea what they will do. Connor for example suggested there will be a second round of GMs. I don't even believe that. I think if they already had someone in person, they may not need to fly them in again. Next conversation could be about contract negotiations on the phone, and that's it. No one knows, because the leaks are plugged. It sucks for us fans as we want to know what's going on, but I do think it is a good thing.
Plugged Leaks = good thing Woody, Chris, Hymie making the decision - bad thing And as a PS, I’d probably say good ole’ Brick may have some say in the GM/HC thing…you know, as a “training/interning” type deal….
There are no Madden ratings on GMs/coaches, so we may be OK there But seriously, all these "sources" know is that these 5 guys went to a room together. Blinds where shut. Then we can guess the rest as much as them!
wasn’t Gase an offense guy? And had just been fired as head coach in Miami? Regardless, he was a jackass like the rest of them, and like the guy who hired them all. That’s the profile. Jackass. ETA: I just realized you might be considering Gase as a Chris Johnson hire rather than Woody.
Found this interesting. I know I, along with a lot of you, have been pretty intrigued by the Lions coaching staff covered by a lot of former players. Looked at the Commanders today and they also have a ton and a lot of these guys are even younger. https://www.commanders.com/team/coaches-roster/ David Blough, Bobby Engram, Sharrif Floyd, William Gay, Darryl Tapp, and Ryan Kerrigan. Blough was rostered in 2022, Kerrigan 2021 and some others in 2017 and such.
I cannot find any definition that the NFL uses for either "diverse" or "ethnic minority," both terms that they use. At the same time even the US Census Bureau now seems to be changing race definitions to ethnicity labels every year. Saleh was born in Michigan of immigrant parents. Is a Lebanese immigrant categorically different than one from Italy, Germany or Ireland?
I can't speak directly about the NFL but I have seen a very broad brush used in the corporate world where matters of diversity are involved. I can't imagine that some team will challenge the nature of his diversity over a pair of third round picks. Although I could see a team challenging it over some Rachel Dolezal kind of stuff.
The 49ers got multiple draft picks when the Jets hired Saleh. It was one of the first examples of the Rooney Rule revision, giving teams which lose a minority coach to another club compensation. so yes, the NFL considers Saleh a minority.
On what grounds? What is it that qualifies Saleh, or anyone else for that matter, to be classified as a minority, ethnic minority or diverse? Has anyone ever seen the qualifications to be categorized as such in the NFL? Well here we are specifically talking about the NFL rule, anything else regarding any other business is irrelevant. Since the NFL added all females to Rooney Rule coverage Dolezal would just need to identify as female.
I'm convinced the love for Glenn on here is some sort of mass psychological cope because everyone knows Woody won't hire one of the actual top candidates.
I'm just trying to relate it to you in a way that I understand it because I really don't care what their diversity qualifications are in the NFL at this point, I just know they are using it as currency now.
Anyway it’s a Friday so there’s probably another 5-6 interviews today. if you’ve worked in the game of football in any capacity, and your name is not Ben Johnson, come on down, the Jets are having open interviews
