I honestly don't care if he's a raging asshole. Sometimes that's the type of person you need when you have an undisciplined, immature team, even if it's a short stint. I want players to be afraid of pissing him off and do their damnedest to avoid penalties and mental mistakes instead of being prima donnas.

As I said, he's not my top choice, but I wouldn't be upset if we hired him because he does have experience. There is also this thing called learning from past mistakes.

It's funny because everyone has been clamoring for a head coach that has previous experience, but at the same time dismissing all the head coaches that do like Flores, McCarthy, Ryan, Smith & Rivera. We don't know that Ben Johnson or Aaron Glenn would be better than any of those.

Again I'm just confused as to how you've decided he can't hire a good staff and has no connections if you admit the guy who is rumored to come with him would be a good option...

It's an unsubstantiated rumor based on the fact they are on the same team now. But yes, IF Josh does come in with him, it is better short term. In this case I would just make Josh a HC.

But the fact is Josh is coming for his own HC interview.

I thought Flores' response to the criticisms he is a "raging asshole" (not exactly worded that way but thats what people meant) was interesting:

I think I’m always going to be demanding,” he said. “There’s always going to be a high standard. I don’t think you can win in this league if that’s not the case.
“When I think back on the experience in Miami, there were certainly some mistakes that I made as a young coach, as a young leader, that I think I’ve grown from
    ."

I like that response because he's acknowledging there were mistakes made from a people standpoint, but he's not going to stray away from being a demanding coach that holds his team to a high standard.

    That's sorely needed here

First question in the interview: "Will you sue us?"

Sorely needed indeed. You know what's common with the people who come in and say "that other guy was a raging asshole, I came in to be easier to work with?" Jerod Mayo for Hoodie, Baker Mayfield for Brady? They all suck, and the raging assholes they replaced were all winners. You want to have an easy time? Go be a professional forum poster on TGG.

Not saying specifically those guys (Mayo, etc.) but I don’t think Disciplinarian vs. Players Coach is necessarily good or bad in and of itself.

There are coaches on each side of that scale who are really good and also others who are really bad. Pete Carroll falls more into the players coach type guy…he’s a good coach. So it just depends on the guy…each style can work.

It does seem like teams who struggle, like us, tend to go from one extreme to the other…last guy was too hard on players? Let’s get a players coach and let’s make football fun again. Last guy was too soft on players? Let’s get a tough guy who will hold players accountable.

That kind of thing…we’ve done plenty of pinballing back and forth

Just because McCown & Flores are on the same coaching staff, it doesn’t mean they have a relationship.

Why does his lawsuit upset you so much? Are you an owner? Even the NFL is not that upset about as he’s currently employed by them and still getting interviews despite the lawsuit.

What if Flores was right? Have the Giants ever hired a black head coach? Not saying... just saying. :D

It certainly looks that way. The last 6 HCs Woody has hired have all been guys with defensive backgrounds. It's hard to believe but it's true. 6/6.

Meanwhile dominant offenses have ruled the league for 20 years. Our owner knows nothing about football.

That sounds about right, the Jets are All-Pros at providing 3rd party leverage.

I’m assuming Kevin is under contract so why is that even a consideration?

Being under contract doesn't preclude him from resigning and taking a position elsewhere the same way Belichick did. The assumption is that it's the agent playing hardball through the press. I guess the Vikings are not playing ball.

Maybe O’Connell wants out of that shithole city?
