I banged the drum for McCarthy when we first interviewed him He couldn’t dumb it down for Woody enough so maybe he can fake it better this time as he is used to being overwhelmed by Jerry Jones ..lol (always let the owner appear smarter than you)
If McCarthy and Kingsbury do not get at least a request for an interview you know for certain that Woody and the 33rd consultant group are completely missing the mark on what this organization needs. Not surprising but massively disappointing as to what a cluster f@# this leadership is.
Huge, huge mistake if they dont interview Mccarthy. Not only is he a well-qualified candidate, he coached Aaron Rodgers for 13 years and the Jets have a decision to make on Rodgers. By interviewing McCarthy you would get "free" information about how he feels about Rodgers and what he would do
If they go hire Arthur Smith, then I’m completely done. How do you take coaches from organizations that what they are in charge of underperform and sell that to a fanbase? I really hope WJ is not considering this.
This is the most desperate HC search I've ever seen. God I hate this team. You just know Woody is going to get this wrong too.
Agreed....he's difficult to get along with and NOT a team player. Followed him extensively in the Miami media. His lawsuit is garbage. Bill Belichik thinks he is texting Brian Daboll -- instead, he's texting Brian Flores !! -- and says congrats on getting the Giants job. Well, he thought he was texting Daboll. Honest mistake. Instead, Flores sues the Giants (!!) for "discrimination" as if Bill Belichick -- who last worked for the Giants in 1991 -- is somehow in charge of making coaching hires in 2022. That would be news to John Mara and Steve Tisch. I want NO PART of Flores. Backstabbed his own GM and Owner and Tua, too, in Miami.
He'll have major problems with the NYC media. He had problems in Miami. What's he going to do when there are 4x as many people to deal with ?
He'll bring discipline, toughness, and accountability to this laughingstock organization. That's what matters most. Not to mention he's a good coaching mind.
Vrabel is the only decent name on that list, and of course he's the only one who's been hired, by the Patriots as well.
You want his other baggage ? Guy is quick to blame others for his own faults....never took responsibility in Miami. The lawsuit shows his character. A friend of his mistakenly tells him he's got the Giants job....and his reaction is to sue THE GIANTS for the mistake ??? That's like this website goes down for a month and the guys running it decide to sue the Coca-Cola Company !!
Aside from The Fake Spike, I like Aaron Glenn. But he's simply a good DC and not some must-have future HC. Who knows, Woody may be thinking of selling and he figures Aaron is just a placekeeper. This pick doesn't inspire me. Had we moved faster on Vrabel, yeah. And if Ben Johnson would have taken an interview, I wouldn't have let him leave the complex without a signed deal. Even at $20 MM a year.
So far I'm leaning toward Aaron Glenn, Steve Spagnuolo or Mike McCarthy as my preferred choices with MM being at the top followed by Glenn. Obviously I wanted Ben Johnson over everyone else by far, but he has no interest in the Jets so that pipe dream is dead. I don't want any part of Rex Ryan, Nagy or Arthur Smith. Ron Rivera and Brian Flores are mediocre choices to me, I wouldn't be opposed, but they come with some red flags. I'm not too familiar with Rizz or Locksley, so I'm kind of indifferent to them at the moment. I don't want Ulbrich as head coach, although most of the issues this year were not his fault. The Jets need somebody that will hold players accountable and clean up those penalties. Too many games last year were choked away by poor defense.
If he makes them a better team that's all I care about. And he's proven to do that. See Miami. All his other "baggage" is conjecture and gossip and nothing more than frivolous hot air.
i am in complete agreement. unfortunately i have zero confidence left in this outfit to get it right.
Clearly you have your mind made up on this but the whole point of the text in question is that occurred 3 days before he even interviewed with the Giants. He is claiming this is proof that the Giants put him through a sham interview. He's not "suing for the mistake" as you say with bolded text and emojis. And for what it's worth other coaches have followed him. This is a class action lawsuit
Agree mostly i guess other than I don’t think Rivera or Flores are mediocre choices…I think they are TERRIBLE choices and would HATE to have either of them be the guy. Rivera was awful in his last stop and I just don’t see the attraction with Flores…not like he got great results in Miami…
