He’s a leader; his choice at OC will make or break him.

I am not sure how I feel about Glenn if he is hired, I am going to pass judgement until after 3 years and see if he is a good head coach or not

I don't know a ton about Glenn as a HC fit but I know that the Lions stand to gain a draft pick if the Jets hire him. SF got a 3rd for Saleh.

The NFL should ban giving out draft picks for hiring a coach from another team

They just started that a few years ago, I think the Chiefs just missed out on getting a pick for Bienemy.

Remember when Glenn returned a Colts missed FG for a TD? That was great. As our next HC? I'm not sure. These DC's....

He seems like a good choice, but who knows? We'll only know if he's a good choice after a few years.

Yes. Parcells told him to get in position for it.

I don't know about this move. I've always liked Aaron but I don't think coming to this shitshow is the right first attempt at a HC gig for him.

He would be much better off in a smaller market like Jax to start. I'm not even getting into his ability to be an effective HC as that's a whole other topic.

    Sounds like another Woody reach.

I'm not sure how much this means. It feels like a popularity contest rather than an objective rating of how good each DC is at their job.

Glenn's defensives in Detroit have been very bad, like bottom 5, every year other than this year.

His players like him, sure. I just don't know if that means anything either. Our players loved Saleh, probably because he let them get away with murder even when it repeatedly killed us during games.

Yeah but they should ask him again publicly just to be sure.

If we're going with Glenn then I would rather go with a more proven version in Flores. I really do think he has a shot at being a pretty good HC in the league and learned a lot from Miami. I think right off the bat he brings discipline and that right there will put this team in a much better place. From there, he brings much more to the table and then they would need to really find a good OC to pair him with which is not easy.

How? Honestly what makes you feel this way? This guy went and sued the league crying racism for not getting the Giants job. The Giants loved him but obviously needed an offensive coach to help Daniel Jones. He alienated his rookie QB and ended on bad terms with just about his entire staff. He has a losing record and never made the playoffs. His MIN defense is solid, not world beaters. He’s quite literally the worst candidate out there and would absolutely blow his fuse under the scrutiny of NY.

Flores alienated his QBs (not just Tua, but Fitz spoke out as well), his staff, his owner, his mentor, the League, other teams that he sued... Who would even want to work under his leadership now? As a HC, especially defensive one, you need to have major connections. He burnt a lot of bridges. That's a big deal. Yes, Glenn does not have experience, and he is not my favorite candidate, but he is fresh, has good leadership skills, has connections around NFL, and is well liked.

There is a big contrast there when they have to build and likely rebuild their staff over the years when their OCs get poached. Flores is just not in position to do it after he gained his awful reputation. It's way too much risk. Between these two, Glenn hands down, and it's not even close.

I do think the whole lawsuit thing is going to result in his being passed over a couple times. But I can't blame somebody for trying to expose the current sham of coach hiring. And I do think he wasn't treated fairly in Miami.

While he was in Miami I felt he brought toughness and discipline to the team. It's not like the new offensive whizkid coach has done significantly better even after they went and got maybe the best receiving pair in the league for him.

In my opinion he's worth a shot - at the very least, worth an interview where they ask him exactly the questions you raised and see how accountable and clear he can be.

I'm kinda wary of the newness aspect. Rookie coaches seem to often make rookie mistakes. For every McVay there are like 50 hotshot coordinators who become one-and-done failed coaches. Patsies crashed and burned HARD going this route (and it was delicious :)). I had such high hopes for Bowles, Saleh etc.

Glenn is the current defensive hotness, but these other guys got the job before because they were the hotness at the time. I would seriously consider a once-fired HC and try to figure out if he learned something in the couple of years he has been out. Not saying Flores, but there must be plenty of such coaches. I mean Bowles seems to have learned how to manage an offense from working under Arians
