Even if he is not your first choice, would you be happy if Rex Ryan was named the next Jets HC?

Carroll and McCarthy have the same amount of SB appearances dude. McCarthy has a better career winning percentage by far as well.

He might, he has been 9 years since he coached a team so do not surprised if his defense is not as good as it used to be

Not that I disagree but that’s the second time you’ve posted the same Yahoo Sports opinion piece filled with opinions from a guy who likely isn’t much different than a lot of the folks that post year.

Yahoo Sports, the same “platform” that’s probably kept alive because a lot of people use their fantasy platform. Not exactly the hardest hitting platform for good information..

So posting it as the holy scripture is kind of dopey don’t you think?

I posted it because I FULLY AGREE with it. Not because it came from Yahoo or... I only put it in both places because it is appropriate to the conversation in each thread.

ALL the coaches on that guys list are exactly how I would have written it. It just blows my fucking mind that damn near every guy on that list keeps getting floated around this board.

Seeing as posting the same article in 2 threads is a "bridge too far" I'll post my next article in it's own thread. However, suffice it to say, not only should the Jets NOT be hunting for a god damn head coach right now (GM FIRST!!!!) but the candidates make me want to flippin' PUKE! New thread in 3...2...1....

Maybe don’t post it and say CLEARLY PEOPLE NEED TO READ then if your intention isn’t to hold the article up as a piece of writing from the football gods.

That's fine and well but I'd still take Carroll over McCarthy. Carroll is the ultimate franchise rebuilder and player development guru. He's one of those instant culture changers that guys run through walls for. McCarthy is real good but doesn't have that kind of gravitas. The Bears look like they're about to get lucky.

Jets aren't interviewing Johnson as he's already made it known that he's only interested in going to a team with a young, franchise level QB.

Flores, yeah. He's definitely worth a thorough evaluation and interview.

Dude, Ben Johnson was PURPOSELY left OFF ole' Hall of Fame bound W. Johnson because, I quote, "He doesn't FIT what the Jets want to do!" Are you fucking kidding me? What's that, Woody? Win? Oh, that's right, the Jets don't want to WIN so let's not go after the best candidate this year. Regardless if he comes here or not, you throw your hat in the ring and bring him in!! The ineptitude of this asshole, Wood-RUFF, is legendary!

Again, you fucking BRING HIM IN!

    1. Johnson wouldn't turn down an interview offer from the Jets, it would look bad especially as a first time interviewer for head coaching positions.
    2. You bring him in even if it's just to see what kind of dude he is and you begin a dossier on him for potential future reference

It is so clear that W. Johnson has never run even a mid-ling organization. It's called strategy!! The league is so "small" and you need to try and get to know EVERYONE! Why? Just because... I've listened to a number of old time GM's, the last being Polian, that said you ALWAYS interview as many candidates, if only for the things I mentioned and the EXPERIENCE! Which, I might add, W. Johnson needs all the practice and fucking experience he can suck into his orbit!

There were multiple reports Ben let it known weeks ago he was not interested. He is my #1 choice too, but why would you request an interview from someone who let it be known he is not coming? Woody is to blame for a lot, but Ben Johnson wanting a team with a good QB is not it. With all that said the coaching list is very underwhelming. It is huge, but mostly full of shit. Even without Ben, want to see Coen, Monken, Kingsbury added. And it just seems like there are A LOT of washed up people. Rex is prime example. I suspect it will narrow drastically after we select a GM, and then GM will be there for a much tighter second round AND hopefully a couple of above names added.

GM list looks much better, which is good news.

So, here's the thing. It's the NFL. Things change with the wind. What's to say that whatever sap they con into being the GM of this team doesn't go and FIND a good young QB? Hell, I don't know much about Martinez but he's young and I've heard good things about him, depending on his injury status.

Besides, you ALWAYS interview as many as you can. Damn it, you EXTEND the olive branch! If B.J. turns it down, fuck all, at least they tried. I don't know, man, the people running this shit show are about as professional as a fart in the wind with a plug in your ass. Just blows my noodle. Hell, if I ran my organization like this turd I'd be looking for a job.

Do you suggest that the Jets hire professional henchmen to kidnap Ben Johnson to have a bit of plausible deniability or should Woody, Chris and Brick handle the dirty work themselves to avoid leaving witnesses? Check your calendar - it's 2025. No means no!

I like the guy...I really do. But to go through all that uncertainty sounds like a high risk in the next two years or so. The thing is, he needs to get lucky with the QB, which he never did, or develop one, which I believe he can't do. Sorry, Rex, but it's a pass for me.

That seems a little extreme. They can request an interview though. We are talking about a zoom interview here. Requesting permission to speak to Ben Johnson on Zoom.... And the Jets aren't even bothering to do that

Actually, this was spot on. The guy said he is not interested. Multiple sources reporting. There is nothing more to be done. Case closed.

The case is not closed. The Jets did not request permission to speak with him

Case closed, because he said he doesn't want it first before we even had a chance to request! Not sure why there is controversy. The sequence of events has been established. He said he is not interested. There is nothing more on Ben Johnson, except I hope he does not end up in NE, or if he does turns into Gase.
