We usually get them around 100-120' here as well...

So you trolling naked chinweighted ballyhoo, or you pulling them on skirted lures?

Early Christmas for Cman!! New Custom Connley 7ft Rail blade. Package length with the bent butt= 8ft. 8'-6" with the straight butt.

I'll be ready for the American Patriot in '25. In fact, I'll be using this blade here in Jersey offshore too. Picked up 4-700gm SPJ CATS. Will be scaling back on inshore trips like '24. Just a few with wifey and old friends. Probably will hit a Pier or two for a nice day at the shore.

Got a 15lb Brisket working this morning to eat tomorrow. Then it's off to Aruba for some MAHI trolling (and a relaxing vacation with the fam)..

    Happy TDay Boyz!!

Well, in spite of the forecast, I did go fishing here in Aruba. Not for Mahi, but bottomfishing. Learned several facts about fishing down here. First, it's always windy. 20-25kts everyday is normal. Went midshore and if you've ever looked at a washing machine during the wash cycle, that's what the water looked like. The only time water is flat is during hurricane season. 5-8ft waves from the east had that boat rocking like a toy. We were trolling and a "jack" hit. 10min fight but he was boated. Moved inshore and feasted on big trigger fish up to 5lbs. All in all, item checked on my bucketlist. No return here to fish though. I'll pass. Gimme the GOM anytime. Keep the Caribbean sea. Not my cup of tea.

I got some really nice black fish from my neighbor last week. I never had blackfish before. Baked it with butter, fresh lemon, salt, pepper and capers. It was really good!

Most fish who's primary diet is crabs / crustaceans are usually delicious... pompano, sheepshead, cobia, blackfish...

Tog are running here but its just too damn cold to be out on the ocean even inshore. I've always heard the water temps will keep you warmer as its warmer than the air temps but honestly, I'll just have to take their word for it.

How much does the big fella weigh? I see where PENN is getting into the Electric Reel game. Came out with a model with a built in battery. The biggest (80) size weighs a hefty 5.5lbs. Definetly a boat rod.

Stayed up until after midnight last night registering on my local long range boat webpage for Tile and a Cod trip later this year. Got 2 Tile trips, 1 Coxes Ledge (Jumbo SeaBass/Porgy/Cod) trip the week before Thanksgiving on my regular boat. On a different boat in April for 1.5day tile trip and of course, another 4 day trip to the American Patriot to fish the GoM. I'm thinking Grand Tortugas for '26 as they're 3 day trips and alot cheaper.

Hopefully, the Regs won't change too much between now and the start of the fishing year. I know there are changes in store in the GoM and I'm hoping they're not too radical. One thing though, I'm committed to severely limiting any new gear purchases this year. In fact, come March I'll be selling a lot of the gear I don't use anymore.

Happy New Year Boyz and may all our trips produce PB's!!

Reels and Rods. I do have one Daiwa Tanacom deep drop combo I would like to sell as a set. I have a few AVETS baitcasters I don't use anymore. I have another Shimano Deep Drop boat rod as well. I also have a Shimano Beastmaster 9000B Electric Reel for sale if I can get a decent price for it. Too expensive just to give away. Got a few SPJ rods I don't use for sale too along with one Penn Surfcasting outfit. My Deep Drop rods for sale are more suited to private boats than head boats.
