I'll be honest I was kind of in the Vrabel camp but after reading Titans fans posts I am not convinced. A lot of them think he was not that good.

I didn't even realize but he inherited a team that was in the playoffs and had won a playoff game just weeks before he was hired. They had the one run to the championship game in his second season but outside of that year he didn't win a playoff game. Also the team declined in his last two season. His whole time there reminds me of Rex Ryan's time here. Both inherited a good roster but then slowly declined. Neither has a great QB either.

This is also likely why no team hired him last off-season. He does want more control than most but he also might just be as good as fans are viewing him. The issue though is who else do we hire?

Well, Jim Harbough has the chargers in the playoffs; a one season turnaround... what caliber of head coach is out there like that?

Carroll, another proven championship head coach, but he's going to the Bears so that's a moot point.

There's also Gruden but I'm not as sold on him as the other two for reasons on and off the field.

How about Zac Taylor? Would anyone want him on the off chance he gets fired? (I dont think he will and usually the bengals dont make changes but just throwing it out there)

I don’t think Brady is any good. He wouldn’t spurn the Jets though

I’d take him immediately or even the browns coach but it’s likely he survives too

Pete Carroll is 73 years old. He's the the average age when people get dementia and Alzheimers.

Seems like a good resume though. Passing game coordinator for LSU. Then he was below average with shitty Carolina team, but not terrible. Replaced Dorsey and seems to have dramatically improve the offense for the BIlls for the last two years, even better than under Daboll, even though Bills lost some talent there. Josh Allen is having a career year. What's not to like?

Another one I forgot to mention is Liam Coen. I cannot believe this guy has top 3 offense in the NFL with Baker.

he’s inexperienced. He lucked into that LSU thing with Joe Burrow and insanely talented recievers. That was just 1 season and then showed he wasn’t ready for the big time with Carolina

now he’s the coordinator in Buffalo but if you watch them, schematically they are not strong. They got some weird routes and things, Allen just bails him out.

he’s getting better, I said he’s not any good, that was harsh I suppose but he’s not at the level of Monken or Johnson from Detroit

Yeah, these two are definitely at the very top of the list. What do you think of Liam Coen?

Yeah…. That’s just not true at all man. Stop making stuff up. Anyone breaking down the film knows that Brady’s schemes, concepts and player usage is night and day what it’s been like in Buffalo and is at the top of the league in creativity. Don’t make stuff up.

Which makes it even more laughable that the hapless Jets couldn't even land an interview with this 'old geezer' as you describe him. Oh by the way, it will be even more hilarious when this potential dementia patient, as you allude to, has the Bears in playoff contention in short order which will happen. Book it.

But at least you can watch Carroll and the Bears in the playoffs and tell your playoff-less Jets buds how funny it is that a guy in his mid 70s is coaching and winning in the NFL.

    Only in Jets world.

I would be surprised if he gets them to the playoffs. I think it’s a poor fit and the Bears are in a tough division anyway

Wait, did Pete take a position with the Bears? I like him, never mind his age, he thinks modern football all the time.

No he did not, just a rumor he is open to it. All of these moves will be made after regular season. On Pete, I don't know, I just think the days of Bill Parcells coming in and building winning culture, defense wins championships, etc, are over. Now days you need either an elite QB to win or great offensive designs. If you look at the teams that made SB recently without an elite QB: SF, Philly, Falcons, Rams - these teams made it because of their offense humming even without an elite QB. For that you need a guy like Shanahan, McVey, Sirianni. I just think we need to find that next guy, and Carrol or Vrabel are not it.

Doesn't mean we can't have a solid team with them, if they hit on the OC, we may, but it is easier said than done. The way this team is constructed, I do think there is a lot of talent on the roster - it can win now. And we are not going to be in position to draft a great QB for a few years (ie top 2 pick) if we get a half decent coach. So we will need to develop a non-top QB prospect and in the meantime maybe we can get a solid, but not elite QB to start (like a Rodgers, Carr, Fields type). To win in this scenario and to develop a non elite QB prospect you need an offensive guy - not a culture builder who will only go as far as the OC he can find from the scraps.
