If Arod and Adams play at this level the next three games you have got to keep them and rebuild the defense. The team would be competing for a playoff spot right now if they hadn’t fired Saleh.
I may be against the group, but I have no problem running Rodgers back next year. I think it's clear he is not in charge at this point. I'm not interested in any stop gap qb other than the one we already have.
They might still be mathematically alive, but they wouldn't really be competing for a spot if Saleh were still around. Saleh was a terrible head coach that would have led us to just about the same point we are now. We might have another win or two, but, at best, we'd be in the situation the Bengals are in, which is still mathematically alive but clearly not making it into the postseason. Just because Ulbrich has been abysmal as our head coach doesn't mean that Saleh was all of a sudden Vince Lombardi. It also doesn't change the fact that this is a poorly constructed roster with little in the way of depth and a defense that can't even get the worst offenses in the league off the field, let alone stop them in a pressure situation.
It's what we often have to cling to as Jets fans, forgetting once or twice a year that the bright light we're seeing is actually just another train coming down the tracks. I'll start paying attention to the arguments for bringing Rodgers back if he can go out and look good against Buffalo. If he does that (he won't, but who knows these days), then he'll have my attention. I couldn't care less about what he, or anyone else, does against Jacksonville.
I agree with this. Let's keep him and if we can get a young qb or some other hopeful back up maybe they cab learn something from him
Two in a row now. Before that 3 games that were not good. Overall he is inconsistent and still trending as a little below average. Not amazing, but not #32 like our other QBs have been. After 3 subpair games I was thinking he dropped off a cliff finally, but he tuned it around to his credit.
Peyton Manning got booed off the field as the Broncos season ended to the Colts and Peyton looked finished. The Broncos fired their head coach and the next year despite Peyton playing very mediocre they ended up winning the Super Bowl. If Rodgers shows promise these last few weeks we have to give it a shot with a new head coach. It worked for Denver. Fox wasn't even that bad but just a change can lead to better results. Not saying the Jets will win the Super Bowl but I still think that with coaching this team would be in playoff contention. At the end of the day to this is a results business. If the next head coach wants to give this a shot then why not?
right but that just means he’s better than Zach Wilson and other bums It will take $30 mill to keep him next year, you should be asking if he’s that good, not better than the losers we’ve had here. The answer is no
The team will get better the moment they cut ties with Rodgers. Just like they were better last year with him on the shelf
Having said all that I hope Rodgers plays lights out in these meaningless games. Maybe someone will want to trade for him after the season
I think that last sentence is really the key here AR’s performance attached to a huge salary maybe doesn’t make a shit ton of sense…however, if both guys value playing a couple more years together and are willing to rework their deals, then its a different discussion. But it will also depend a lot on who the next GM and HC are
I don't think anyone's calling Saleh the next Vince Lombardi, but it's pretty fair to say the JETS would still be in a better position....odds are there a few more wins just based alone on the defense meltdowns that have occurred since he got canned...
