Rumors are pointing with a weak QB draft that the Jets may bring back one of their former QB's. Any thoughts?? Looks like something only the Jets would do.If they took Darnold maybe they can hire Vikings Offensive Coordinator Wes Phillips as part of the package. Only in the Jets Twilight Zone can something like this happen.
We shouldn’t bring either of them back but it’s not a dumb thread. We’re in stopgapQBland next year but that’s OK. We shouldn’t be desperate for the next latest and greatest thing all the time. That’s when you get trapped into Zach Wilson’s.
No it's a stupid thread. This franchise is a disaster. Sam isn't even playing that great lately, and he has no reason to leave the Vikings. Geno is decent, but happy with Seattle. Should we try to convince Sanchez to come back while we're at it? Sent from my genius mind.
Let's make Rex HC, Mangini OC, Herm DC, and Westhoff ST. And bring in both Sam and Geno at QB. Tebow can also come on for the Wildcat. Championship!
If Darnold didn't have Jefferson to throw to their season would look very different (and I say that as someone that likes him) - on the Jets he wouldn't be doing much.
Which is precisely why it might have been a good plan to get Sam some good players to throw the ball to back when he was on the Jets payroll. Imagine that... he would have done better if he had a little help. The offensive players the Jets were putting on the field with him were basically league worst in general and at times historically bad. Jeff Smith, Tomlinson, an absolutely shot Frank Gore, centers that couldn't even snap him the ball.... it was so bad.
he’d still be better than Zack Wilson and Aaron Rodger’s and with a haul of 1st we would of gotten for the biggest bust in jets history we coulda been a playoff team
I realize I came off rather ruthless. Sorry OP. I have a concussion, and I've been super easily irritated since Thanksgiving. I still don't like the idea of bringing back any former Jets players. I mean Sam would be better than what we're dealing with, my point was that it's not a realistic option. We need to lose, hope to play well, but lose, and set up our draft position as well as we can. Say what you will about the upcoming QB class, but what else are we going to do? Wait until 2026 for Manning? Sent from my genius mind.
Not a chance Darnold would ever come back here. His tenure here cost him years of his career. He had no weapons and no chance. The league didn't believe in him based on that. So he ends up with the Panthers, who aren't much better. Doesn't work out. Then goes to San Fran as a backup. Then finally got his chance in Minnesota. If Darnold had been on a functional team he would have been a starting QB with success like he is having in Minnesota from the day he was drafted. I'm happy he overcome this franchise nearly sabotaging him due to things out of his control.
I was very vocal that they should've kept Darnold and traded the #2 pick to the Niners but that boat sailed (and then sank)
Technically he could declare now, but he's shown nothing so far to indicate he'll ever get drafted. Last year he had a 0-6 TD/INT ratio, which are Tim Boyle numbers. Rocco Becht has a better chance.
