That's exactly right. When people talk about getting rid of Rodgers because of the CAP hit, you need to consider that his contract is not guaranteed for next year. Meaning no one will be paying him 38 mii. The additional CAP number that the Jets will have to incur is whatever they agree for 2025. And it will not be 38 mil. Rodgers right now is below average 10-15 mil range QB. If we sign him for that much, that's the number that will be added to the CAP we already kicked down the road. These CAP savings we achieved with him in last two years are going to have to count against us in the future either way, whether we sign him for 2025 or not. The only additional CAP hits will be his new salary. No different if we sign another QB, that salary will also be added to CAP.

So, if he stays say for 10 mil, and you still see a huge CAP # against him, it's not because we decided to keep him. It's because we saved on CAP before, and either way it will count either again him if he stays or against dead CAP. So keeping him say for 10 mil in 2025 has the same CAP equivalence as signing another veteran QB for 10 mil.

Neither does anything else the Jets do. If Douglas had done his job and gotten a kicker and not gutted the D-line, we'd be in the playoff race right now. The QB play is not the reason we're at 3-8. It hasn't been great (but it's still on pace to be one of the better season by a Jets QB), but it hasn't been a total disaster either. It's Joe Douglas and this abysmal coaching staff he put together that has us at 3-8.

I have a hard time believing that Russini came up with the whole article and yet didn't at least approve the headline even if someone else came up with it. It has her name on it. She could have vetoed it if she didn't like. But really the headline pretty accurately depicts the actual article so there was no need to veto. Russini and Zack proved to be very unreliable reporters who are willing to report whatever their sources tell them, if that means a bombshell article, even if logically the sources (what's up JD) make absolutely no sense and are likely full of shit for their own benefit.

She is already walking back some of it. Original report was that basically Woody was so insane he wanted to bench Rodgers after one bad game, in spite of putting up MVP like performance a game before, and that coaches were asking if he was serious and convinced him otherwise. After people pointed out logical fallacies above and on top of it Adams trade, she now changed the story that Woody thought Rodgers may not be able to play the next game because he was injured again Denver. Two completely different situations. Last year she had a similar BS report. It's about making a big splash, not the facts. The bottom line is, to me she cannot be trusted at all. A definition of fake news.

Rodgers is a statue back there. There’s no one left to blame the losing on anymore

Yes he is. He is immobile and he is a shell of his former self. He is 25th in QBR, 17th in PFF, 88.9 passer rating. A below average QB, but also not the worst one like we had in year past. He did put up 27 points in the last game, which for a below average QB is not bad. There is plenty of blame to go around. To me the biggest problem was and still is coaching. That should have been changed last off-season. Other than that, you have below average QB (while better than last year this is still not amazing), DL talent worse than last year, special teams were bad all year, particularly with Greg kicking while it mattered.

Plenty of blame, but we need to finish the year and get a new GM and coach, and hope they will be better than what we had. We also need a young promising QB at some point. If Travis is not it, we have to draft one. Just not sure when as next year's class sucks.

This story about Rodgers refusing to work with the Jets medical team is starting to pick up a bit.

Why Jets' Aaron Rodgers refused to get scans on his injuries

That's a big deal, I'd cut him just for that. Not only do you not want to let something like that happen in the locker room, it has huge ramifications, but the organization can, and has, been punished by the league in the past. All injuries must be monitored and reported.

I think saying he's looked a "shell" of his former self is too strong a take. No doubt his ability to extend plays with his legs has notably diminished, and as a result MVP Rodgers has clearly checked out. But much of his failure this year imo still boils down to the Jets being a league worst level execution team more so then him not being able to sling it or play higher level QB if/when he actually gets protected. When he drops back and has had time to work I haven't personally spent the year cringing that it's AR back there.

I think a lot of the fans and media really need to come around to the surrounding reality that It could have been Patrick Mahomes instead of Aaron Rodgers and the end result *HERE* was still going to both look and play out a lot uglier then it is almost anywhere elsewhere. Aaron Rodgers in say Minny next year, or really any team in a notable better position to manufacture successful outcomes then we can, *IS* going to look dramatically different and better then he looked here. Just like Darnold did when he finally got out from under the thumb of his own terrible team death sentence situation/s.

Things like adding another "1000 yard WR" to the mix or giving him *his* guy in Davante simply don't matter or actually move the successful outcome needle with shitty coaching sabatoging the effort. He's gonna move on and do better by almost default . Be ready to stomach that last after shock wave of disappointment.

Pat Mahomes is 10-1 with a running back they got off the couch and JuJu Smith-Schuster as his primary reciever most the year.

If he came to the Jets with Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson and now Devante Adams he might set the touchdown record

I feel the same on most of your surface level only takes in regards to how NFL outcomes actually manufacture themselves. As if it's an entirely different sport or sees it's game taking place on an XBox console.

Patrick Mahomes isn't 10-1 btw. It would be more directly accurate and relevant to an evaluation to say that the Chiefs are 10-1. Our opinions are obviously going to differ if/when your own base credit logic doesn't even extend into bothering with a surrounding acknowledgement of that.

But this does better explain to me why you'd still be so gungho on the concept of immediately drafting another savior QB in the upcoming draft as *the* solution to current team failure problem/s ;)

Agreed. I mean this is no surprise considering how big of a moron this guy is when it comes to anti-vax bullshit and other conspiracy theory nonsense. Maybe he thinks Cayenne pepper will cure his pulled muscles? I dunno.

I can already see that failing.

There's a good chance Mahomes is our starting QB in 2035. It's how we roll!

AR has been underperforming. He is def part of the blame. Coaching, and FG kicker has been a mess. Sauce has under performed as well. Poor Special teams. Poor tackling

His throws lately has been off, and not connecting with Adams. Disappointing.

I fully believe that a lot of the players underperforming is a combination of REALLY bad coaching combined with the mental checkout due to the losing and dysfunction

I really do believe that if we get a quality HC here these players will play up to their potential…which is much higher than the shit we’ve been watching on the field all season.

Don’t underestimate the impact of this dysfunction…players can all see this season is toast and they check out.

Would love for that to not be the case, but it’s reality.

Our leadership sucks and the team flounders because of it

I hope Rodgers goes to a new team and has a great year next year. This fanbase 100% deserves it.

I can guarantee you Bengals fans aren't begging for Joe Burrow to get released for starting 4-7 because they can actually see that their team has deeper problems and the QB is not close to the top of the list.
