I'm probably the only person not against letting Rodgers stay here. IMO the biggest problems this season have been; coaching, FG kicker, defense falling off. Not saying Rodgers has been good but he is not close to being the primary reason why the team lost. Now if you want to blame him for the coaching staff such as Hackett I will give you that. However that's why I would tell him day one if he's coming back he is a player not a GM. If he doesn't like that then goodbye but if he knows his role then he can stay. There is no QB in the NFL that would have won with this team. It's not an NFL team due to coaching. I beat the drum all off-season that the Jets needed to replace the whole coaching staff. Joe Burrow is a perfect example, he's basically having an MVP season but his team is 4-7 due just poor decisions, missed fgs, defensive meltdowns. It's the same story in Cincy. So if Rodgers wants to come back and have a drafted QB sit behind him then I'm for it.

Even the games the field goal kicker “lost” are questionable against Denver, Rodgers didn’t get the Jets in the end zone the entire game. And against Buffalo he had the ball with a chance to win and he threw an interception — I think it’s a no-brainer to move on from Rodgers. Players don’t improve after age 41. This is the very best Rodgers will look for the rest of his life and it’s not that impressive
We acquired him as 39 year old who was coming of a season where he was 27th in QBR among qualifying QBs. To much standing applause mind you So basically when you strip out the hype spin we did kinda end up getting exactly the player what we paid for if you want to frame it up like that.
For this price - hell no. He is basically a bridge QB now, a below average QB. I still don't want to end up with someone worse than him, but we can probably get Fields for under 10 mil, or someone else in 10-15 mil range. If Rodgers is willing to take a massive pay cut to get into that range, depending on how the rest of the season plays out I am not completely ruling out bringing him back. Though chances of that are very slim.
True but deals get renegotiated all the time….Rodgers is a shell of himself but still better than the shit we’ve had at QB for years. To me, a huge part of the problem is the tangential stuff like Hackett. I don’t want him back at that number necessarily but at a reduced salary to better match his performance I’d consider it. Problem is I don’t want his cronies like Hackett around, and he may not agree to a pay cut or to letting his friends go. If that’s the case, then fuck it he can go. we can lose double digit games without him just as easily as with him…

True but I think you can still win with him if the proper coaches are here. Denver won a Super Bowl with Peyton Manning in his last year, and he threw 9 TDs and 17 INT and had a 44.2 QBR. Rodgers currently has 17 TD 7 INT 2442 yards and a 50.9 QBR. Brady in his last season in Tampa had 25 tds, 9 int, and a 54.6 QBR yet came a miracle Stafford pass away from beating the Rams and obviously the Rams won the Super Bowl after. I think with proper coaching you can still do something with Rodgers. The fanbase wanted Rodgers originally. The Fanbase wanted Saleh fired. The fanbase now wants to get rid of Rodgers. The fanbase has gotten what it has wanted and has not worked out. (Outside of Woody selling the team). Maybe the fanbase is wrong here. Also not saying you wrong here, if the Jets want to move on then so be it, if Rodgers doesnt want work with a new staff then so be it. But if he wants to come back, wants redemption and is willing to work with a new staff and new qb behind him I think it would be fine.
Fields don't suck imo, and his tape (especially 2nd half of last year) doesn't look like Zach's. A better OC and weekly game plan would still end up resulting in much higher end of the positive outcome spectrum imo. I believe that to be the case for both him and Russ too. I was watching the game last night in the bar and just like in media was hearing a lot of overly simplified takes of how "good" Russ has been doing since the switch, and how Arthur Smith can't be that bad because of it. When really that Pittsburgh offense is just a couple deep 1v1 passes down the field being defended away from those same people being back to complaining it's not very good. Don't currently have paywall access to the exact numbers to post, but i wouldn't be betting on Russ's seemingly high success rate doing that in the small sample of games since he took over to not see some natural regression rest of season. Anyway, I do agree with Borat that there is a world and 2025 setup scenario where i don't mind Rodgers coming back. It couldn't include Hackett remaining in the building, so the likelyhood of it happening is almost non-existent, but it could still be there if we bring in an OC hire I actually feel confident in.
Fields would only interest me at this point if we actually paired him with something like a Kingsbury HC hire. Which in combination could make a Sam Darnold 2024 type difference imo. As noted above I didn't see the move to Pittsburgh for Fields being much different from Sam's move from this horrid probability of success setting in NY to a basically equal one in Carolina.
"The fanbase" was very much split on Rodgers. The fanbase was less split on firing Saleh. The fanbase is least split on getting rid of Rodgers. Maybe you're the one wrong here. I have not seen or heard any real reporter or commentator with close contact to the NFL express an opinion that Rodgers will play for the Jets next year. It's possible there may be a handful, and I don't care at all what the social media geniuses say. He's toast.
