Nah, I was thinking that too but not after how openly hard he's gone at us whenever given the chance lately. Bill B isn't the type that would be saying those things if there was a chance he'd actually be interested in the open job. Too much drama material.
Let me be CRYSTAL clear.................... There will NOT be some fantastical coaching hire!!!!!!!!!!!! PERIOD! Wipe that delusional shit from your minds right now. Bill Belichick, John Gruden, Pete Carroll...NONE of them! Not a one. Every single one of them you people toss out there has 2 damn good reasons, among others, WHY they won't come to this bullshit franchise!! It blows my mind that it can't be seen! Football is about winning and legacy!!!!! One comes with the other and the ONLY legacy this franchise has, outside of one damn guy calling "his shot" in Super Bowl III, is LOSING!!!! Losing, losing, losing and more losing. Bill Belichick will go to a team that can WIN! He's not going to shit all over his LEGACY with a LOSING franchise. Pete Carroll, outside the fact that this franchise already screwed him once, has a WINNING LEGACY and I'd be hard pressed to think that he would jeopardize that on a franchise that already shat on him. John Gruden, regardless of his legal bullshit, is a WINNER and has a LEGACY to protect as well! Regardless of the fact that, with his recent history, the NY Media would eat his ass alive on a near daily basis, win or lose. All these coaches you folks keep throwing out there are already RIDICULOUSLY wealthy. I don't give a shit if you threw $200 million for 5 years on the table. NONE of them are going to be willing to throw their LEGACY into the trash on a franchise that even the great Bill Parcells was incapable of pulling out of the steaming pile. Doesn't matter about ownership pre/post. To argue it is fantasy. The reality is he squeezed a little bit out of the franchise but, ultimately, it went right back to the shitter where they've been since the 60's minus 1 damn year. Of course all these people we keep tossing around are all OLD!!! Old old old. Hell, even Gruden is in his, what, mid-50's. Who in the fuck has the ENERGY? There's no McVay or Ben Johnson type guy coming up that is going to be willing to flirt with tossing their fledgling career in the perennially burning dumpster fire that is the NY Jets!! It is what it is...get used to it. To parrot a good number of posters on this board, AS LONG AS WOOD-RUFF JOHNSON OWNS THIS TEAM THEY WILL BE TRASH. There is NO CONTESTATION of that proven FACT!
It's not who is your head coach candidate next season at this point, it's what coach wants to come and coach this clown show and deal with the morons running this organization, and what coaching hire mistake Woody will make this time, Don't believe me look at every coaching hire since Woody took over.
Boomer Esiason is pretty convinced Gruden will get some coaching offer(s) That contradicts what a bills fan on a Jets website has said though
I’m not sold on Gruden anyway though. He won a Super Bowl with Dungy’s team, against his old team where he knew all the signals and the players were calling out the Raiders plays at the line. Not saying he wasn’t a good coach, and yes he’d be better than what we’ve had, but he didn’t win much after that Super Bowl…I like that he’s an offensive guy but I just don’t think he would work here, not to mention all the off the field email shit he was involved in.
That off field email shit is nothing to worry about. Beggars can’t be choosers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Woody had the Jets competing in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2015. Acting like you can’t get a Head Coach with ability just because Woody is owner is not correct. Todd Bowles was a bad hire but he did compete in 2015. Then Gase and Saleh were hired with Woody out of the country. I think a solid hire in 2025 is very possible.
The great thing about sports is that unlike in the real world, if you do dumb stuff, you will get punished for it on the field. Woody can release all the One Jets Drive hype videos he wants about the return of Rex, but the team's still going 4-13.
That's one way to look at it - another starts with Rodgers officially checking out rather than simply physically and emotionally and ends with a new GM, a new HC and a new QB. I'll bet my scenario is closer than yours.
With Rex- my head says no way but my heart says yes At the very least we won't see these players drift through games, it will be nice to see a little grit. Ok, i'm just trying to talk myself into it cause it feels like an obvious Woody Johnson move
I've already written next year off. If they bring Rodgers back for another year, they better have multiple young QBs to learn behind him. Travis + new guy.
I wonder if he'd be willing to take a DC job. I think he'd improve the defense, but we've all seen how offenses regress under him.
