It is not at all like Verizon, Netflix or any other business for which ownership is traded on the open market. It seems you do not understand that tee shirts and hot dogs are small parts of the revenue picture. The guy bought the team for under $700 million dollars and has an overall losing record since then while the value has increased tenfold. I posted the figures that show the team's value more than doubled while they won less than a third of their games - how do you then predict a value downfall for the future?

Right now, other than a COMPLETELY empty stadium EVERY-SINGLE-JETS-HOME-GAME, there's not much that can be done. Basically, all nationally televised games would have to end AND the local broadcast, in the NY area, would have to end for there to be any "real" monetary impact. The nationally televised games are gone. Of that you can bank on. No one is going to make that mistake again and the games can easily be flexed out. Unfortunately, ALL the games must be broadcast to the local NY audience because they are contractually bound to do so. THAT's where the money is. As @Ralebird pointed out, the value of these teams are wrapped up in the TV contracts as a whole for the entire NFL. As long as there are good teams and people continue to pay the cable/streaming networks, the teams, all the teams, will go up in value or at least hold their value. What separates the top from the bottom is the added tickets/merch type stuff. NY Jets are at #5 because of the size of the population of the NY Metro area. Now, if all the fans simply stopped buying all the related stuff the Jets might drop from 5 to 10...15...whatever, but the difference would be negligible in the grand scheme. Face it, essentially, the combined league ownership would have to FORCE Johnson to sell and that's not happening unless something like the kind of legal drama that happened down in Commander land. The fans have two options: They either live with the shit show or find another team. It's not going to get any better and there's simply not enough luck in the world for Johnson to stumble on both a GM and HC that simply overcome decades of ineptitude AND his constant meddling. Johnson's meddling will NEVER end. At least, not for the foreseeable future anyway and there's no guarantee that his kid won't be as bad if not worse than the old man! We already know Chris is a useless turd. So, buckle up people. You either pull the plug on your fandom or get used to it. For me, personally, I'm going to watch this upcoming offseason with an electron microscope. Depending upon how things go will determine if I go looking for a new team. I love football way too much and I'm only in my 50's. I'm not giving up the NFL and, at the same time, I won't be fed a disastrous shit show on an annual basis anymore. As I stated, I'm in my 50's now and I won't support any more colossal ineptitude.
The problem is the impact will be minimal. On the WFAN they reported that NFL teams get only 17% of revenue from ticket sales. That's why leagues can stage their games in front of empty stands as they did during COVID, and still make money. I like the idea of fans wearing bags over their heads. I think that sends a message because the cameras always pan to the stands when the Jets have a half of futility as they did last Sunday. It also may be time to hire an airplane ---- WOODY, SELL THE TEAM!!!!!
No it won't because it will hurt the Nfl's bottom line more than Woody's and the Nfl will make it miserable for Woody to be a owner and find a way for him to sell the team. The Nfl don't like losing money on one of the biggest markets in the league, on another note besides wanting Woody to sell the team, why would you wanna slave away at your job all week and than spend your whole check to take your family to a game when the team is this bad? These players and owner don't give a crap about us, so why would we want to shell out our hard earned money to see the crap they have been putting on the field for 24 straight years? If your looking for family entertainment there's better ways to spend your money.
Yeah I think most of it comes from TV ratings and advertising. If Jets fans stopped watching the games altogether it might do something, but there will always be fans of other teams and others watching for LOLJETS moments. It would also be an awful look for the team to have near empty stands, but again, that would never happen. Many are loyal.
The Jets are 2nd in attendance this year in the Nfl besides the shit product put out, so well never know if not showing up would force Woody to sell the team because people keep showing up.

You completely missed the point...I said "relative" value... absolute value is very league dependent, even the Jags are worth $6b... On a relative basis it matters. Lose fans, lose revenues, lose ticket sales, jerseys etc. You need to actually read the commentary... downfall from 6.5b to 5.9b or so means a huge drop in "relative" value.. maybe to the middle of the league. Woody's ego can't accept that... he needs to sell before he becomes a middling team for value.. Even the Bungles team is worth $5.5b
The NFL doesn’t only profit share TV rights. It’s my understanding that they profit share merchandise sales as well. So Woody might make the store profit at the stadium team store. But the Jets and Packers get the same check for Jersey sales on fanatics. They also share 34% of ticket sales. So boycotting the games doesn’t even pack the financial punch that it should.
