But they do it with such style that it's almost like we're watching some kind of office comedy instead of a real life multi-billion dollar sports franchise. Like a scenario that you just don't think is possible, so suspension of disbelief is even difficult. The fails are becoming like performance art to me.
I thought he was the most pro-ready, in Penix. Add to that, he actually gets to ride the pine and LEARN from Cousins. Talk about a fantastic situation. I'll be stunned if Penix doesn't turn out to be a very good QB. Maybe not great but very good. Who knows...if I really knew what I was doing I'd be coaching in the league. LOL!!!
Blueprint is definitely there, but Woody has historically shown zero ability to even copy what other teams did. We pick up on league-wide trends a solid decade+ after most teams do.
Woody's that asshole kid you played "sand lot football" with. He takes the blueprint, wipes it away, and says, "I've got a better idea!"
Yah…look who the fuck knows with these QB’s…hardest position to predict in all of sports because there is SO much responsibility there and so much of it is mental. You may be right about him. I don’t see it, and I don’t think he’ll amount to anything in the NFL, but who the fuck knows? But you know it’s funny…that last line you wrote is kind of common sense in a way, but I 100000% believe that if Woody would just go on this board and run a poll on who to hire, that would be the best fucking hire he’s ever made. Same with draft picks. Maybe kind of sad to say, but I fully believe that if on GM and HC hires as well as draft picks, if the Jets would have just done what the collective wisdom of this board recommended, we’d be a MUCH better team. No Idzik. No Mac. Fuck them…NO ONE on here thought they would be good hires before they were hired. For sure as fuck we wouldn’t ever have hired fucking Adam Fucking Gase. Probably wouldn’t have hired Saleh either. Just incredible but I do believe that this board in general makes better decisions than what Woody has actually done.
i did not like joe douglas, he seemed too cold and seemed to always want to move on from players. i felt like he was a jerk. however i thought he made some good moves, when he moved on from guys he got alot in return. when he went out and got guys he seemed to pay less than alot of others. he drafted fairly well and i thought overall did a pretty decent job. this team 2 years ago was close to being a pretty decent football team. i felt like the past 2 years he was doing whatever rodgers wanted and got away from doing things the way he had been doing them. all said he duped woody into a 6 year contract and over those 6 years the team really didnt show any sustained progress toward a sb championship or consistent playoff runs. so adios you jerk, and hopefully they can bring in a real gm who will be in charge of football and the idiot owner can go do something else. he and his family need to take about 7 steps back from the football operations.
What an attractive destination we are! In a coming year with no qb coming out, and a 41 year old control freak still under contract.
Why did I leave the Eagles and Sixers back in 1990? Not that they have done much more, but i’m just trying to remember, why? Especially now! It was my freshman year in college in North Jersey and i decided to pick local teams…So I chose the Jets and the Nets…and have been suffering ever since…. lol!!! I mean both franchises came close in my lifetime, i can’t deny that.., but no parade yet.
If Woody had ANY balls at all, he would've fired Hackett too, which would've sent the message adios AR. instead, he fired the guy everyone knew wasn't coming back and didn't even want to be back...
I agree, I also wanted no part of Penix. While Daniels came in a little more polished, I will stick with what I have been saying for 3 years. Drake Maye will be the best qb in this class when it’s all said and done. Nothing he has shown this year with the Pats has changed my opinion on that.
Finding a QB isn't that hard if you build a team culture. It is possible to do that if the owner gets a bit of self-awareness and hires someone to make football decisions. I am amazed at the consistent lack of understanding of folks who have been on this site calling for the head of the GM like it solves anything. The owner is the one who forced Wilson on the team for three years with no reasonable back up when it was clear he was not ready. AR was never going to be the guy and he was not worth what the Jets paid/received but this also was spearheaded by the owner. Noticed I haven't talked about the GM? I know for a fact Saleh/JD wanted Carr. Can't blame him for the problems and the drama that came when every walk-on backup suddenly was better than owner's friend's nephew or when he made the choice to throw away the team's future years on AR. The team is a young impressionable but talented bunch, that were mostly drafted by our GM. I don't know what gage you go by, but when the owner destroys three straight seasons on Wilson and then another two on a famous has-been, it doesn't matter who you draft you aint winning a championship. Firing JD? Sounds like he was jumping ship. Get a clue.
With an owner whose biggest concern is him getting publicity for being the owner and what uniforms the jets wear each game, don't hold your breath.
This is my biggest fear and hesitation. Woody is a complete and total fucking idiot. He is so fucking clueless. This is definitely one of those “be careful what you wish for” scenarios I completely expect him to fuck up this hire just like he’s fucked up every previous GM and HC hire. Not just some of them. ALL OF THEM.
My two cents. Under this regime, every single draft choice and free agent under achieved one way or the other this year. Every single one. Wilson, Hall, Sauce, Reed, Q and the rest digressed since year one. That points to piss poor coaching across the board. Period. A CS that JD selected. That IMO, is the root cause of his firing. Having said that, I don’t believe for a second JD had anything to do with wanting AR and his side kick, and later Adam’s. That was Woody and only Woody. He clearly acerbated a bad situation. JD had some big misses, like OL and QB, but we also have brought in a bunch of very good players that digressed under this CS. Non the less, JD is getting fired now and the rest f the NFL is wondering, what freaking circus is out there in NY and who would want to go there. I’m still convinced that this very same team, with no player changes, under a damned good coach, like Payton, or Harbaugh, would be fighting for a play off spot right now, and playing balls out. Instead the whole team gave up trying even more after the untimely firing of Saleh. Half Season too late for both. So we rationalize it was smart to fire JD now so Woody has more time to make the right choice? ..laughable. He has never made the right choice, and if time was the issue he should have cleaned house last year, when key C were available. Same ownership, be prepared for wash, rinse and repeat. I hold very little hope. We are what the ownership has created, a team where professionals go to fail.
