The Venn diagram of “Douglas is a great GM”, “Zach just needed good coaches” and “The Jets have a roster for a deep playoff run” posters is a perfect circle.
Because nothing being stated after that there makes any real sense if/when you still aren't able to adequately explain why Hackett is still here then. Like it isn't even remotely close what the most blatantly obvious move on the table is right now if we were really wanting to pivot away from Rodgers. It's that Hackett firing, and it's still not happening. Firing the GM doesn't push that needle here nearly as much if you can just replace him with a Rodgers yes man. Night and day different from Rodgers being ok with the team firing his best friend and somebody who he keeps going on record as strongly wanting to be here.
you are poco loco about rodgers and hackett. I shared in that very post that the seasoned journalists are saying its likely Rodgers wont be back and Hackett has already been demoted, I think he gets people coffee these days haha. On a day like today who gives a fuck about hackett
Pretty sure we've been in this same exact debate point before lol You keep saying Hackett doesn't matter. But Hackett is still here, and yet again not the guy getting fired. Not even the 2nd guy getting fired first either. When is it going to happen, and why is it taking this long if that is the actual plan?
Yeah this is good news and honestly really the only option. It makes zero sense to have a new GM/HC with new systems and schemes come in and have to pair up with Rodgers. Because either they install their schemes and expect a 40+ year old HOF QB to learn a new system for like one year, or else have them come in and just run the same scheme we already see isn’t working. Neither of those options makes any sense.
I think there will be a full housecleaning of coaches this offseason, Hackett included. Which almost certainly means that Rodgers won’t be here…not just because of Hackett, but because it would make no sense to bring in a new coach with new schemes and have a one year 41 year old QB try and learn that. But of course…this IS Woody we’re talking about…as I’m starting to get my head around this all, would anyone be surprised if he tries to bring McCarthy here and reunite them (assuming McCarthy gets fired this year by Jerry)…although I thought I saw someone post that AR and McCarthy were not on good terms, so maybe not really an option…I just wouldn’t put it past Woody to try.
I dont know, how the fuck would I know? get a handkerchief for that foaming mouth at least and maybe recognize this thread is about joe douglas
Yeah I read Cimini make the immediate jump into "it likely means Rodgers won't be back", and the fact it's Woody we are talking about here basically craps all over that default assumption thought process imo Maybe I could see letting Hackett ride out Aaron's last season if they were already 100% committed to moving on and/or swallowing his contract next season, but I need to see at least a sliver of something that would actually suggest that in Jetsville before I'm personally buying in.
Who gives a fuck about Hackett? Some of you on here harp on shit that's captain obvious material. If he's not gone at the end of this season then there is something obviously wrong. However in the middle of this horrid season and stretch, Hackett is just biding time and collecting a paycheck. He's a scrub and will never get another OC job anywhere outside of the Gaza strip. Stop talking about minor shit. Today is a great day because Woody officially acknowledged some of his most recent failures. Now the real part begins. Finding the new regime. All that other past tense shit is pointless.
At this point, why even give a shit? Let me be the absolute FIRST to unequivocally say that the next hire will be, hands down, ridiculously worse than Douglas. Winning percentage my ass. He is STILL a top 3 GM to this dumpster fire of a franchise and that's sayin' something. Hell, he could actually be top 2! There is no one coming to save this team. No one. That ship sailed when Wood-RUFF, dog shit for brains, Johnson bought the team. He's been putting his less than mediocre stamp of approval on this nightmare since the day the ink dried on his bid. Bill Belichick knew it, Bill Parcells knew it and it's been ram rodded down the throats of fans since the day they left and told the Jets to take a flying dump. The only thing Wood-RUFF did today was confirm what every swinging dick, in the NFL and Power 5 conferences, already suspected. This is a shit show dumpster fire and it is NOT to be trifled with by anyone with any designs on making football their career. Not the coaches, front office nor players. I'm in agreement that Douglas/Saleh should have been fired. It's a results business and they got none. However, you do that shit with a plan in place and with class. There was absolutely zero to gain by firing either one of them mid-season. All it did was put on blast that Wood-RUFF has not clue one. Not a clue about football, not a clue about management and damn skippy sure as hell not a clue about men. NO ONE wants to be embarrassed like that and certainly not doubled down by whack both HC and GM in the same damn mid-season. As MOST of us stated, well before the season began, these two should have been provided their "papers." Ce la vie... Make no mistake. This franchise is as far away as ever from a Lombardi trophy. Hell, even mentioning the "L" word should be grounds for slapping my eyeballs out my head. This team needs to worry about cracking .500 before flapping their lips and tossing words like Playoffs or Super Bowl. Get ready folks. If you thought this team has hit rock bottom, they haven't. There's always a season of "0'fer" on the horizon. Unreal...JSMH...
a flip of 1st round, and a 2nd, plus taking on the contract.....vast overpayment. in all fainess, i do NOT believe either douglas or saleh was the idea guy behind the AR move. that was entirely on woody. i would announce the rebuild sarts now. sit all the high $ guys, and start the reserves and taxi squad guys. evaluate the roster for the remaining 7 games. tell Goddell to take a hike. as long as you tell the public ahead of time, the betting sites and Goddell have no basis for complaint.
completely agree with you. i , after 60 years watching, converted over to the " woody sell the team" view. can uncle steve cohen own both the mets and jets? ifnot, then maybe one of the trump kids could convince woodman to sell the team to an investor group with Trump's kids fronting it.
Jets over the last decade: Idzic - Maccagnan - Douglas Is it any wonder that this team has struggled.
