He brought in talent, his biggest issue was Zach Wilson and then followed that up with that old pile of shit at QB.
Don't forget Becton, bad free agent signings, 2023 no o-line and no backup QB and 2024 letting quality D-line players leave for no apparent reason.
Lets not get ahead of the story here...you can bring the players here but when most of them regress....we have to look at how their being coached and schemed up. This is largely a coaching issue, bringing in someone in Carter who has a bad rep as an OLine coach and having him "teach" bad habits and having most of the OL regress, that's not good. Having a poor OC in here teaching "concepts" to these players is not good. Even on defense, having them taught the way they've been taught...penalties, mistakes, not being able to freelance and think for themselves, that's not good. I do think JD's moves have been solid for the most part but it's just not being taught correctly by this staff. The whole thing needs an overhaul....at this point bring in all new coaches and staff in here and start from the ground up. Whoever comes in here needs to have the say so in terms of who he wants in those positions.
Normally I’d agree but given the fact that multiple GM’s have turned down even having conversations with the Jets regarding the position I’m all in on wanting as much time as possible to line this shit up to get a good candidate. The time to get a GM and properly maneuver the offseason is a very short window. The more time our dysfunctional organization has, the better.
He wasnt the worst but he wasnt good either. If the next head coach comes in here and starts winning with this roster than Douglas will at least get some credit similar to how when Rex won with Manginis players. His biggest downfall was obviously Zach Wilson, not getting a backup QB last year and not replacing the kicker this year. He was too stubborn at the end of the day.
Sorry, I should’ve clarified that they’ve turned down the opportunity to interview in the past. And we also know that Maccagnan was in fact going to be fired from his position before taking the job and he was buddies with those two clown consultants we hired. So I want a comprehensive search. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/decosta-spurned-jets-too https://nypost.com/2014/12/30/the-watch-begins-5-possible-coaches-and-gms-for-jets/
ROFl So long Joe the Schmo! Don’t let the screen door hit ya on the way out..aha Whether Johnson did this on impulse or had a plan to put the “ we are hiring “ ad up . Who cares Someone is paying for Fans misery so that’s good
This guy will never be a gm ever again int he Nfl, Woody gave this idiot 6 year to completely destroy this team and hamstring us for atleast 3 more years. To not fire Baldy and him in the offseason and to fire them anyways in season, is Woody's biggest blunder to date. Drafting the biggest bust in Jets history and not being able to build a offensive line in 6 years should of had him fired long ago. The crazy part is theres no confidence in Woody, he will just hire people just as incompetent as the people he is replacing. 24 year sample size tells you so.
I saw the headline on X and then just thought it was somebody saying he would be leaving in the summer, I'd already read that he was going back to the Ravens anyway. I guess he will be there soon than expected then. I batted for him early on but the Wilson pick was a nail in the coffin and this season was all of the nails left in the nail bag hammered home.
If the plan is for Woody to mandate Hackett and AR remain and not give the GM complete latitude to hire and fire the CS, then no one closely to being worth two cents would touch the job with a 10 foot pole.
This Jet's season and the last should be made into a pamphlet for any new owner of an NFL team. The name of the pamphlet should be "HOW NOT TO OWN OR RUN AN NFL TEAM" Put Woodys picture on it with that "Woody" jeweled necklace. Give it to our new owner...
he was a victim of circumstance -- to borrow a 3 stooges line SF drafted Trey Lance right behind Zach. However, they didn't trot him out there on day one even when he was clearly not ready. No heads rolling there for that bungle He drafted reasonably well in the first round (and i include Becton in that because his rookie season was good) but continued to miss in 2-4 Holy hell this organization is so dysfunctional
