We all knew that one or both of our tackles would miss time, and here we are This is why the OT pick was made Now we’ll see if he can play…
Well, there's a number of reasons the OT pick was made, but I'll stick with watching the guy we actually drafted develop instead of debating the why at this point.
Like so many other moves this team has made... it's at least several weeks late (and in case of the coaching staff, an entire offseason too late).
I’d venture to guess if we were in the playoff race and Smith wasn’t sucking ball sacs he’d be playing.
It’s funny, all our veterans we traded for and signed look exactly like Mike Tyson did in the ring last night. I literally watched that fight realizing right away Tyson was the boxing equivalent of the Jets. All this false hope for players that were something 5 years ago. Smith, Simpson, Rodgers, Lazard, D Adams, Reddick…. All just a bunch of old trash past their primes. None of these guys are going to do anything remotely close to “elite” in a Jets uniform.
trying to cover up another one of Joe D's huge blunders this season Tyron smith, amazing job by the great Joe D, only good thing is that the trade deadline has passed and he will be gone before he can do any further damage
Brock bowers with 13 receptions, 126 yards and a td vs dolphins while our offense sucks ass. another great decision by the great Joe Douglas.
Olu needs to play LT the rest of the way; gotta showcase young talent and give development opportunities with an eye towards attracting coaching candidates and revising roster for next year. Safe to say Smith was an awful decision.
I actually think our OL is really good that is looking a lot worse than they are due to an immobile QB and a poor OL coach. Olu: 1st round pick, looks SOLID. I mean, it's going to take some time but he has a good attitude and looked good at times. Encouraging for a rookie. Simpsoin: Apparently he has been playing like a top 7 guard this year according to PFF and X Tippman: Top 12 center according to PFF and X. Solid building block. AVT: When healthy, and we picked up his 5th year, has been good. Mixed with Morgan Moses, I think Carter Warren may be a capable backup LT, this is a strong unit.
I think you got it right. There is no "too" in watching the Jets passively. Survival instinct is not innate - it is learned.
I'm not exactly sure how inserting our shiny new o-line "toy" on a team that has mailed it in will do any good. With this team's luck, some other o-lineman half-assing it will miss a block and the kid will tear an ACL and be done for a career. Fuck, I can't BELIEVE I'm saying "mailed it in" with nearly HALF a season to go! We fans deserve better than this... Listening to the NFL Network on Sirius earlier today. It doesn't matter the show host, when the topic of the Jets come up, you can actually FEEL the air go out of the "air waves." It's palpable.
Time to insert Carter Warren at RT. Even Max Mitchell. Need to get these guys more game experience & start assessing the offseason plans.
Tyron Smith was always the 6-7 game starter for this team if heathy. He picked up a few more bucks than the 6.5 guarantee with the 10 starts if I’m not mistaken. Puts him close to 60% of snaps… another in a long list of mercenaries this team has signed over the years.
