Why would the NFL ever do that with their fifth highest valued franchise in the top third in revenues?
https://x.com/i/status/1857162147278504341 Agree completely with this. You don't fire the head coach just a few games into an all-in type of year. All that did was put them even further behind the 8 ball.
Irrelevant. Firing a guy just a few games into the season was brainless. You either do it before the season or after they are out of contention if that's the plan.
This site is dead just like the team. I remember when this was such a great place to go and all the old timers are gone. Not pissed, not backed off. Gone from here, gone from the stadium and don’t even bother watching
Well, you are here, Cman is here, Dierking is here statjeff is here. As long as you guys are here this place will never die. But I see your point. 14 years of failure took a toll on this board as well.
The day a coaching record of wins and losses is irrelevant is the day the league dies. Yes, Saleh should have been fired last January, if not before but five games was plenty to see the team was not only losing again but doing so without any hint that they had a clue how to play the game.
Perhaps if Woody fails to sell the team he can learn a lesson from George Castanza and become opposite Woody. Rather than keeping a bad head coach into a new season and firing him midway through the season, opposite Woody could take care of business during the offseason either cutting the coach in the first place or waiting at least until either the season is over or a competent replacement becomes available. Instead of keeping the GM who went all in on a QB and whiffed to commit future assets and cap space to a washed up 40 year old QB, opposite Woody might clean house and rebuild. I could go on but I think you get the gist.
I'd be surprised if Dan Quinn would have interviewed for something like that. He was looking for a HC job.
If we ruin another young QB before we have something to build around it is going to be a long time before we have a winning franchise. Get rid of Rodgers after June 15 and build with some combination of Taylor, the young QBs we already have or something on the free agent market. I think after taking a LT in the last draft this is the time to get the weapon we didn't get last year (no way we can afford to keep Adams). We really aren't in much position to pass up BAP but if it is close, get another guy across from Garrett to keep defenses honest.
The info leaking out of Jetsville (surely must be coming from JD) confirms our worst suspicions. Woody vetoed a new contract for Bryce Huff, and a trade for Jerry Jeudy, for example. As many others here have said, no one of any worth will come to this farce of a franchise to work for this jackass, who, as the saying goes, was born on third base and thinks he hit a triple.
You know, if even HALF of this is true then "we" need to re-think some of the perspective around JD. Of course, "fake news" runs rampant so who knows. Unreal... NO ONE of worth is coming here. I'm thoroughly convinced of that much.
It’s from the NYTimes/Athletic article. If the journalists publish it they’ll stand by their source… who I’d think must be JD, given the timing. There’s much more in the article, both positive and negative regarding JD. We’ll see how Saleh and JD do at their next teams. But we KNOW how Woody will do, with his next decisions.
