The only way Rex 2.0 would work is if he got a short term deal, and was paired up with a young hotshot Offensive whiz to be OC, to eventually be handed the reigns at HC... Rex brings in a culture change and defensive swagger before he flames out again, then followed by some long term (hopefully) stability to held the next future QB trainwreck.... Of course we know this wont happen...
Rex was awful. He didn't how to evaluate talent for shit and was a poor head coach. He inherited Mangini/Tanny's teams and talent. He was another Saleh. Good DC and that's where it ends.
Yeah I don't think it will work at all, but at this point there no real options. This is the one that will be most palatable to Woody.
Nonsense, he had the worst QB in the league ... and he was a rookie. Under no circumstances does that equal "the perfect situation." If he had Peyton Manning as a rookie it still wouldn't have been a "perfect" situation, but he had Mark Sanchez, who couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.
Saleh didn't inherit a loaded roster from a previous regime. He got Zach Wilson and a bunch of bust picks/acquisitions. Rex Ryan is Garbage and he's not coming to coach here nor should he be considered so it's a moot point.
Stoooooooppppppp! He had a hand in drafting Sanchez. When they hired him, Brett favre was still there. C'mon!!!!
I get it, and I'm not blaming him for having Sanchez there. I'm just stating that when he got the job, he was in a great situation that didn't include a rookie quarterback.
Rex and Tannenbaum are both on record (over a decade ago) stating that Rex got to choose one player in the later rounds of every draft. One year it was a full back (who's name escapes me). They made a big deal about it at the time ("this is the guy Rex picked"). Rex did not pick Sanchez; Tannenbaum did.
He was the head coach, so once Brett favre left, he had no say whatsoever in the quarterback? You guys are nitpicking at every possible thing you can to defend this guy. Bottom line, he was handed a stacked roster, did a pretty decent job with someone else's team for a couple of years, and then ran it into the ground. End of story.
I'm shocked people are serious about this. He hasn't coached in like 8 years. If we hired a new offensive minded HC and he interviewed for DC then maybe he can work his way back into the newer NFL Just bc we went to the playoffs 14 years ago, doesn't mean hell be able to pick up from there, his last 4 years we were VERY meh
No, we're explaining to you (repeatedly) why you are wrong. It's not our fault you said inaccurate things and we needed to correct you.
No, it doesn't. But it does mean that he is likely much better than what we currently have. That's all anyone is saying. This is a guy who wants the job, would take the job tomorrow, and is likely much better than what we have.
