Do we even want Rodgers for next year?

Does it even matter? We need to fix the coaching before we do anything on this team. They draft great players and do NOTHING with them!
This team has regressed. I was so hopeful when Joe Douglas took over. We made some great picks and some not so great picks, like lots of teams do but after we pick them they go bad. Where is the development? How do other teams manage to stay relevant every year even without high draft picks? COACHING! Bill Parcels turned a bad Jets team around in ONE year! We have been floundering. We went from being the envy of the league when we got young talented players in the draft to once again a laughing stock. Fire Yourself Woody!

Where's a cap/cash guru who can tell us what happens when Rodgers cannot pass a physical?

I think the entire concept idea that we can get out of a repackaged 2025 Take 3 Rodgers season is mostly just fantasy talk. Another terrible bet season, fueled by more major decisions that further screw the future away (not taking the out in Davante's contract and hiring a new HC for all the wrong reasons), is what that earlier "all in" still leads to. But if we were talking fantasy here....

The only potential out of that I could even see being on the possibility table is maybe you shop a subsidized Rodgers to the bad ownership Colts? No noteworthy compensation and just a straight forward take him and at least some of the salary off our hands swap. With that team setup and that OL maybe they'd have the select interest? Since they are trying to be a playoff team now, Richardson is clearly not a NFL QB, and given you are kinda reaching the point with him where maybe the path to unlocking that elite athleticism runs through trying to fit him into another position.

Rodgers is still better then Flacco, and they look pretty solid with Flacco imo. Plus you get all the hype and mainstream attention you don't get with Flacco.

I think the question in the thread is a really good one. I mean Rodgers certainly is not a top QB anymore, but he can still play better than anyone we've had here in many years. Of course it is apparent now we should have gone balls deep into Carr, but given where we are, we have to evaluate who is the best QB we can realistically get next year. I want to replace FO and coaching, but I don't want to tear things up and sell everyone. I want to try to make play-offs next year.

So, is there a QB better than Rodgers available? If there is, time to move on. But ... is our draft pick good enough to get someone in the draft in the 1st round? What are the FAs that will be available? We drafted Travis, is he going to be an option we can evaluate at some point - at least in practice? Can we go with him (or a 1st round rookie) and Tyrod as a back-up? It's just too early to tell right now. But I would not rule anything in or out at this point. I want to have a solid QB next year, whoever it is, not garbage we trotted out for the last decade. Rodgers though may be a bit below average, but he is not garbage at this point.

Also, money is a factor as well. If we keep him, it would have to be for a salary fitting an average QB, not a top 10 guy.

i don't want him this year, last year, the year before that, or next year. i was opposed to his acquisition, and they gave up far too much compensation on top of it. no wonder the offense has no real blockers, and they let talented DT walk or traded away for salary cap reasons.

go with travis, martinez, and another draftee until you get the offensive line fixed. rex and teams like pitt just run the ball, and minimze the need to throw. plus, running the ball and eating up the clock keeps yout defense fresh and mostly off the field.

The guy is a lazy cunt who doesn’t want to lead this team. The first sign of adversity and he becomes a bitch. Green Bay was right to get rid of him.
I was against it from the start. Aaron is soft. He wants to be a movie star and do nothing for a living.
That said we are stuck with him due to cap hit.
You guys are all suckers. Can’t believe you bought into the medias bullshit Super Bowl hype again.
I didn’t get sucked in at all. I watched only the last five minutes of the pats game. Glad I missed it.
This team is a waste of time until woody is gone.
How could you all be so blind?

when is asshole Aaron on macafee again? I want to see if he has any shame.

No I dont want backwater Arod.

I lobbied hard to trade him to the Vikings last offseason, even willing to eat a lot of his salary. We could have easily got at least their 2nd rounder. Instead they traded their 1st and 2nd to get McCarthy.

    The best part is bolded...

The first question the Jets will need to answer is what is next for Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers, following his Achilles injury, looks nothing like the player who was winning MVP’s in Green Bay. He looks pretty much immobile and too often seems like he is on another page than most of his receivers. Whether it is age, injury, interest in outside things, or some combination of all of it, it is hard to really create a scenario where he returns outside of running the table and making a late push for a wildcard. Even then it may be time to step aside rather than run it back hoping that he finds some magic fountain of youth.

I thought the cap numbers would be way worse but just rip the bandaid off in 2025 and reset the entire thing. Not really sure I agree with getting rid of GW, but I’m totally okay with sauce if the price is right.

Waiting for the new year is not required. The decision should already be made and the hunt should be underway, well ahead of other teams contemplating the same.

If the roster is not the problem, how is blowing up the roster the solution? I see three main fixable problems.

    1) the FG kicker
    2) Figuring out what is causing the delay in getting the ball snapped.
    3) Need for a dedicated DC. It's too much for Ulbrich to be both HC and DC.

I think the blowing up needs to be done to the coaching and front office staff more so than the actual players. I think we have some good young players that can be built upon if you bring in a coach with a fucking clue.

There is talent here. But the entire coaching staff has to go. With players, though, to me the real questions are on some of the older guys like AR, Mosely, Adams, Smith, Moses, etc. Problem is both cap hits as well as the real truth that despite their declining performance, the guys we currently have behind them are not better.

Trading for Rodgers was a SB or bust move.

Now it is a bust which is why JD needs to be fired.

Given all of the contracts we pushed into next year getting on the right path will be tricky.

Tyron Taylor balling out would be the best thing that could happen to us right now.
